This substantial detached log cabin is situated in an idyllic spot with magnificent views over the Tamar Valley, a wonderful place to escape and enjoy simple living in peace and quiet.

If you’re a couple looking for a quirky yet romantic rural getaway, this glamping spot in the Cornish countryside should do the trick. We know your beloved pets are part of the family too, so you certainly won’t want to leave them at home – this cosy log cabin welcomes up to two canines too. Surrounded by a huge grassy lawn and natural woodlands, the accommodation is perfect for both energetic dogs and nature-loving humans alike.

The inside is deliciously cosy, with a bedroom/lounge and a small kitchenette where you can prepare meals. On cold evenings, light up the wood burner and warm your hands as your pooch settles down for the night, dreaming of chasing foxes through the trees. Outside, there’s plenty of space for relaxing. Grab a newspaper and a cuppa and spend some time on the covered porch while Fido happily chews up sticks on the lawn. There’s also a cute wooden gazebo where you can shelter from the rain or sun while still enjoying being outdoors – cook up a feast on the BBQ, not forgetting to sling Fido a burger or two for a holiday treat.

The cabin is located in the village of Latchley, which sits on the River Tamar – the perfect setting for nice long walks. This river eventually leads down to Plymouth on the south coast (19 miles away), which you can visit when you fancy feasting on fish and chips by the seaside. The Tamar Valley, which you can see from the cabin, is great for long walks, and you’ll also be on the edge of Dartmoor National Park which offers more opportunities for getting into nature with the dogs.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Loved our stay at Thimble Lodge. So peaceful and the views are stunning. Perfect for dogs as the garden is enclosed also great for parking. The lodge is so cosy and looks beautiful lit up on an evening. Milk and flowers on arrival was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend this stay. Simon and Steph were lovely. Kim & Tony

Highly recommend. Quiet location with lovely ambiance and great views. Kit Hill is minutes away by car is brilliant for dog walks with great views and Louis' cafe at the bottom is a great place to eat/drink before or after. All walks from the cabin involve walking on the road which are, for the most part, single track but traffic is very light.

The pictures don't do this place justice, it's so peaceful and the garden is amazing, parking is great for luggage and carrying shopping, putting the dog in the car etc. Very private and the owner is very helpful.

I would 100% recommend staying at Thimble Lodge. It was the only place I have ever been that I seriously didnt want to leave. I am normally ok going home, I just wanted to stay here forever. The views, the peace, the location - everything was amazing. Our dog Poppy thought she was heaven. So many things to do close by too.

A lovely cosy lodge in a beautiful location. Fantastic views even in the rain. Ideal spot for dog walkers with so many fantastic walks and dog friendly pubs nearby. The owner was very helpful and always on hand but not intrusive. We would definitely return and recommend to others.
