It’s time to pack up Patches’ ball, treats and sleeping mat and bundle her into the car for a trip she (and you) will love. This converted shepherd’s hut in the South Cotswolds is a springboard for exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – an ideal spot for long walks that’ll satisfy stick throwers and chasers alike. The cottage sleeps two adults and up to two dogs, so is perfect for a couple looking for a bolthole to enjoy with their four-legged family members.

The house is made up of a combined living area with everything you need for preparing simple meals. This stylish space is perfect for cosying up together after a long day outside in the Gloucestershire air; you can watch TV or play cards while your pooch doses off in her basket. Outside, you’ll find a private raised deck with beautiful views of the surrounding area; ideal for enjoying an al fresco breakfast on a warm day. There’s also a courtyard area with seating to one side of the hut, so there’s plenty of space for making the most of the fresh air during your stay.

The house is part of Tortworth Arboretum, where you can admire 300 rare trees while your waggy-tailed friends sniff out exciting new scents. If you fancy an urban day out, head to historical Bath (29.5 miles) or into the city of Bristol (17 miles) which offers plenty of shopping and eating opportunities, as well as the spectacular Clifton Suspension Bridge. For further picturesque ball- tossing opportunities, cross over the River Severn to the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean.

The hut was cosy and a good base to work from. Location not as believed from the pictures. Owner has dogs of their own so not suitable for reactive dogs like mine.

The Shepherds Hut at Tortworth is a great little place to stay. While it was a little drive away from some locations I wanted to visit in The Cotswolds, I was able to drive through so many beautiful villages & towns. The hosts where friendly, but didnt intrude on the stay & I forgot we where in their garden. Would definitely recommend staying here,Read more great as a base & somewhere to sleep. Hide

The Shepherds Hut was the perfect place for myself and my dog to stay for the weekend. Mr Hill was extremely kind and welcoming and the hut is set in a gorgeous area of Tortworth. It was close to the motorway for our travels to other areas. We had a lovely weekend and would highly recommend any other dog friendly travellers of this property.

I had such a lovely, cosy, relaxing stay at the Tortworth Shepherds Hut. The hut has everything I needed! The couple who own the hut were so welcoming and friendly. The area is beautiful and the couple were able to give me some great tips on where to explore with my pup. Highly recommend!

We have just returned from a wonderful break in the Shepherds Hut. We were very lucky and had fabulous weather, so we were able to make the most of the outside seating area and share some fuss with the resident doggies! The location is perfect, there are some wonderful walks nearby, and a short drive away, and the surroundings so peaceful. The Hut Read morehas everything you need for a perfect romantic getaway. James was a perfect host, we were made so welcome, and look forward to returning. S.Moss Hide
