Further afield, take stick-chasers to Saunton Sands where you’ll find a long stretch of shoreline to play fetch all year against a backdrop of grassy dunes. The Tarka Trail beckons here too – perfect for walkers and cyclists, it takes in the picture-postcard village of Croyde (25.5 miles) with its pretty cottages and a world-class surfing beach. Shoppers will enjoy the weekly markets in South Molton (3 miles), and the independent shops and market at Barnstaple (15 miles). Floral inspiration can be found at RHS Rosemoor (19.5 miles) or amble the garden terraces at the dog-friendly Tapeley Park (23 miles).

Loved this cottage. We had a lovely relaxing week here with our dog. Really comfortable furnishings, well equipped kitchen comfy bed. And great joy - a socket near the mirror for ladies drying their hair! In my experience, quite rare. There is no hairdryer that I found, ladies so take your own. We loved it here and would certainly go again.

This is a beautiful thatched cottage which has been modernised while retaining its original character and features. Set in a lovely quiet hamlet giving good access to this part of north Devon. A nice welcoming gift of bread, milk and wine!

Amazing Thatch cottage couldnt ask for anything more, location was perfect for us. The hamper on arrival means you definitely wont starve until you reach the shops, what a lovely touch. The communication was excellent with the owner. Would definitely recommend worth a stay.

We had a fabulous 4 nights here in May. The cottage is cosy with a lovely log burner. South Molten market on a Saturday is worth a visit (dog friendly). We also visited Instow which has a very dog friendly beach and a nice pub. There is a great circular walk for dogs through the woods and along the river. We would definitely return. The cottage hasRead more a very well equipped kitchen, the bed we slept in was really comfortable and the owner was easily cotactable. Looking forward to next time!! Hide

Located in quiet village road. No nearby pubs or restaurants. Easy reach of South Molton which has a small number of places to eat. Good sized field nearby for walking dog. The footpath through this field leads to South Molton which is about 3 miles away. Locals friendly and helpfull
