Bright and modern family home in recent stable conversion, perfectly located for exploring the vast Tay Forest Park and surrounding Perthshire.

Feel like the top dog at this beautiful holiday home in scenic Perthshire, nestled within a farmstead 3 miles from historic Dunkeld. With its pretty lochs, forest parks and river, this Scottish county has plenty to delight nature-loving humans and canines. This refurbished property, metres from the banks of the River Tay, sleeps up to four humans and one dog. It's part of a cluster of three cottages which combined have room for 12 people and three dogs – great if you're thinking of a big group getaway.

The property is made of beautiful grey stone, with bright-blue window frames adding splashes of colour. Inside, the open-plan layout makes for sociable evenings in, either preparing meals in the well-equipped kitchen or relaxing in front of the TV with Buster nestled at your feet. Extra touches like underfloor heating and an iPod dock make it feel extra welcoming, and floors downstairs are not carpeted, making it easy to clean up after your four-pawed friend. Take morning coffee on the patio outside, reached through a set of French doors leading out from the lounge. This spot is great for making plans in the fresh air while Buster seeks out a shady spot for a snooze.

For morning walkies you'll be spoilt for choice – the house is in a charming rural location on the edge of a forest, part of the Tay Forest Park network (two other sites are located 9 miles and 25 miles north). Perhaps you'll opt for an invigorating early-morning jog along the adjoining river with your dog in tow. Keen hikers will love long days out in Caingorms National Park (17.5 miles), perhaps scaling one of its ambitious peaks such as Ben Macdui or Braeriach. Loch Tummel (20 miles) is worth the trip; pop into the Queens View Visitor Centre (dogs welcome) for tea and cake beforehand.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in The Stables. The cottage is compact but very comfortable, excellent bathroom facilities. Washing facilities are available on site at no extra charge as well as secure bicycle storage. We used the opportunity of excellent weather to cycle along quiet country roads to Pitlochry and Blairgowrie, both within a comfortaRead moreble if slightly hilly ride away we also enjoyed the excellent walking particularly in the tay forrest and along the river to Dunkeld Hide

Lovely cottage set in the beautiful countryside around 2 miles from Dunkeld. The property has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. There are lovely walks all around you and when you have tired yourself out then you can relax in a lovely spa bath. A small slice of heaven!
