In the cobbled market town of Stokesley (4 miles) enjoy picnics and walks along the river. For an invigorating day at the coast, drive 11 miles to the Victorian resort of Saltburn. After working up an appetite with doggy paddles and ball games on the canine-friendly beach, wolf down fish and chips sprinkled with vinegar.
