Set in the heart of Eastbourne’s vibrant seafront, this charming period cottage will have humans and dogs high on holiday hedonism. Just across the road, the sweeping shingle beach is calling; run free from October to April on all but the main resort beach – summer leads are needed. Find superb dog-friendly beaches at Royal Parade (0.5 miles), Holywell (2 miles), Pevensey Bay (4 miles) and Birling Gap (6 miles). Explore Eastbourne’s canine-cordial shops, pubs, museums, open spaces and eateries, including The Eagle and The Dolphin pubs, the Eastbourne Lifeboat Museum and Green Flag award-winning Princes Park, with its gardens, boating lake and children’s play areas.
Inside, the cottage beautifully blends quaint seaside charm and cosy modern comfort. The traditional cobbled and whitewashed walls shine as a unifying feature, bringing time and space together. The sweet lounge exudes traditional charisma, from the sash window to brickwork nooks. The galley kitchen has everything you need at your fingertips, and a door to the patio. There’s a useful ground-floor cloakroom. Steep stairs lead to the bright and beautiful bedrooms; some parts of the eaves-situated single have reduced headroom, but it’s a gorgeous sky blue nest of cosiness. Sink into the steaming roll top bath or energise with a morning shower, before wine or coffee in the enclosed courtyard or raised side patio with ocean views.
Further abroad, find hound-happy beaches at Cuckmere Haven and Seaford Head (10 miles), with sublime views of the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs and Cuckmere Valley. Normans Bay (6 miles) is good for kite flying and views of Beachy Head. West Quay Newhaven beach (14 miles) has a 19th century fort and 1940’s themed tea room. Bracing Bexhill-on-Sea (12 miles) is the birthplace of British Motor Racing and an unspoilt haven of seaside pizzazz.
