Beautiful family friendly converted Coaching Inn within walking distance to Tretower Castle and local amenities

Set deep in the heart of the glorious Brecon Beacons National Park, this beautifully converted 17th-century coaching inn provides cosy accommodation for a family of four – with up to two dogs – looking for the perfect rural getaway. Ideal for enjoying the spectacular Welsh landscapes, the cottage is also nicely situated for visiting some of the thriving towns and villages on both sides of the border with Herefordshire.

Complete with an ancient stone roof, thick traditional beams, oak flooring, exposed stonework and a large wood burner set in a stone fireplace, this family-friendly cottage is a wonderful place to return to after a day exploring this beautiful area. You can sit back and enjoy a movie in the tastefully decorated lounge, or prepare a fantastic meal in the bright and fully equipped kitchen. There’s also a handy playroom for children which has an additional sofa bed. The cottage also has an enclosed courtyard where you can enjoy a BBQ or a drink in the evening. There are miles of walks from the doorstep for your four-legged friends to explore.

The cottage is just a few hundred metres from Tretower Castle, a 13th century keep and one of the finest surviving medieval houses in Wales. Dogs are welcome here and can accompany you to a choice of great pubs and cafes throughout the area. The Brecon Beacons are a perfect base for miles of breathtaking walks, with the Rivers Usk and Wye offering stunning views. There are plenty of quaint villages and bustling market towns to explore. Abergavenny (9 miles), Talgarth (9 miles), and Crickhowell (4 miles) are all within easy reach and all have a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants to relax in. The popular town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its book festival and plethora of second-hand bookshops, is also nearby (17 miles).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Owners very friendly and helpful. Cottage was immaculate and well equipped. 3-5 minutes walk to fields to walk the dogs. Tretower is Avery pretty village. For dining out you can turn right out of the property and Crickhowell is a few minutes away or turn right and the Farmers Arms is a few minutes away on the right.
