Tucked away in a picturesque hamlet on the outskirts of County Durham, this beautiful holiday cottage overlooks magnificent rolling fields and is a perfect base for walkers, ramblers and cyclists.

This beautifully finished, contemporary cottage sits in the midst of the stunning countryside of County Durham, with wonderful walks for your four-legged friend straight from the door. Part of a small complex with two other cottages, it sleeps four guests and welcomes one canine companion. Within easy access of both the glorious North Pennines and the attractive city of Durham, it is ideal for a family getaway.

Inside, this single-storey property is elegant and stylish. The open-plan living area has a neat, well-equipped kitchen with a table for four next to the window where you can enjoy the views. The cosy lounge area has an attractive fireplace and a large rug where Fido can enjoy a doze while you relax with a drink in the evening. From the lounge, large patio doors open onto the attractive private patio area where there is comfortable garden seating with fabulous views, perfect for a drink in the sun. Shared with the other two properties, the large, enclosed lawn stretches down to a second seating area, where you can sit and soak up the sun while your furry friend gambols about on the grass.

Surrounded by miles of unspoilt countryside, the cottage is ideally located for getting out and about with your four-legged friend. The beautiful River Wear (12 miles) offers wonderful riverside walks. Head into the pretty town of Wolsingham for lunch in one of the dog-friendly pubs or explore the marked trails of nearby Hamsterly Forest where your furry friend can enjoy snuffling around in the undergrowth. A day to the Beamish Living Museum (10 miles) is unmissable. Take your four-pawed pal on the buses and trams that run around this unique open-air museum and explore the sights and smells of life from a time gone by.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely cottage, beautifully appointed, great location for exploring the fascinating area. Only small comment is that the second bedroom is small; a very tight squeeze if the under-bed is in use.
