Set in an idyllic rural location at the edge of the Cambrian Mountains, this remote retreat provides four guests and two of their four-legged friends with the ideal base to explore the mountains of Mid Wales and coastline of Cardigan Bay. A plethora of walking and cycling opportunities are sure to set tails wagging, before you return to relaxed evenings under sparkling stars.

Located next to the owner’s B&B, which sits in around four acres of grounds, this single-storey property manages to feel secluded and private, with established gardens, woodland, a wildlife pond and a stream for your pack to explore. The open-plan living space ensures that whether you are preparing a meal, planning your activities or simply relaxing in front of the TV, no one will be left out. On warmer days the property’s enclosed garden with paved patio, outdoor furniture and charcoal BBQ means that al fresco dining is always an option, and it also provides you with a private space to enjoy as the sun slowly sets.

The property’s remote location means that you are never far from a good walk or stick-chasing opportunity, with the Cambrian Mountains immediately to the east. Supplies can be found readily in the town of Tregaron, 5 miles north, where you can sniff out a bargain at the local market and browse the shops and eateries. For wildlife lovers, Cors Caron Nature Reserve lies to the north of the town, with more than 170 bird species recorded on the wetland site and a number of dog-friendly walking routes on offer. Meanwhile, Cardigan Bay lies 18 miles west, where you will find plenty of beaches, coves and seaside towns to explore, with Aberaeron, Aberystwyth and New Quay all within 25 miles of your door.

The cottage was very comfortable and clean. It was very welcoming on arrival with lots of Christmas and New Year light. We enjoyed the home baked cake and the bottle of wine.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, and absolutely wonderful owners who took us in on ridiculously short notice on Christmas Eve! After a serious disappointment elsewhere we could not have been happier at The Old Pottery. It's warm, comfortable, deceptively spacious and just an all round nice place to be. The patio area immediately around the cottage was Read moresecure enough for our big dog, and she loved exploring the grounds (including the pond!). We'll definitely be back to see it in summer time. This is a lovely space in a beautiful area. It is very comfortable and cosy (we were there at rhe end of October). You need to be comfortable driving on very narrow roads, but during our week we only had to reverse twice! The scenery is stunning, and the beech trees were changing colour. The Old Pottery is located in a beautiful, scenic location and is ideal for a relaxing break. Its a great base to explore the local beaches and mountains. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything we needed. Our dogs enjoyed the woodland area in the gardens which are home to some amazing bird life. Beautiful location and cottage. We had a wonderful time. The owners were very welcoming and we arrived to a home made cake, bottle of wine, chocolate, mints and tea and coffee. Excellent cottage to stay in - everything provided and of high standard. The bed was really comfortable and the bed linen felt very luxurious. Our two cocker spaniels were safe in the outside area to sniff around and the wooded area was great for them to have a good run around and chase. Had a wonderful week with children and dog. Owners are on site and very welcoming. The provision of washing machine caps and dishwasher tablets alongside the tea/coffee etc was very thoughtful. Our dog enjoyed the wilderness area of the garden in particular. Can recommend for a peaceful off-the-beaten-track break.

The cottage was higher up the hill than we expected (about 1,000 ft altitude) so was cooler than in the valley and meant driving up steep, narrow lanes. However, this also meant it was very tranquil. Wonderful property in a fantastic location providing you don't mind single track roads. Yola and Kevin are great hosts and have created a wonderful paradise in the Cambrian Mountains. Can easily spend all day watching the birds! Easy access to countryside, beaches and gardens. Already planning a return visit.

The location was very peaceful and we were made to feel right at home. The hosts were superb. It was lovely to have all the birds feeding outside of the kitchen window. The location is quite remote and you will have to take it easy on the roads but the Tesco delivery man made it so it is not impossible. We had a wonderful stay. Kevin and Yola gave us a very warm welcome. The cottage was perfect, warm and fully equipped.
