Perfect for a couple, this beautiful, quirky property has one of the hottest addresses in Scarborough, set within an historic building close to the Rotunda Museum and Spa Bridge.

In an enviable spot in the old town of Scarborough, this quirky apartment is a perfect bolthole for a couple and their dog looking for a relaxing break on the coast, with attractions, restaurants and entertainment on the doorstep.

The apartment is on the first floor, with a layout that maximises its compact space, and a great vintage style. Wake up to superb views of the sea and the Spa Bridge from the comfortable bedroom with its open stairwell and en-suite bathroom, before heading down for breakfast in the well-designed kitchen. There’s a large breakfast bar to enjoy your morning coffee and pastries or perhaps tuck into a full breakfast to fuel up for a day exploring. And at the end of the day, curl up together on the comfortable sofa with the dog at your feet and watch a film with a fantastic backdrop of the illuminated bridge and sea beyond.

The house is on a pedestrianised road, and it’s a great neighbourhood to explore on foot. Visit the Rotunda Museum and stroll the leafy streets to Scarborough Art Gallery. Enjoy some serious pampering at the Crown Spa Hotel or take in a show at Scarborough Spa entertainment venue. Stroll along the beach, half a mile away, to the pier for some traditional seaside fun, and walk around the harbour to the funfair too, or climb the hill to Scarborough Castle. For a trip out of town, take the train along the coast to Filey and wander along the promenade or let the dogs enjoy a run on the sandy beach.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The property has a fabulous location with one of the best sea views of any holiday cottage along the Yorkshire Coast. Right in the heart of town, you have all of the delights of Scarborough within a mile including its gorgeous sandy beaches, cafes and restaurants.

Make your way up through the historic streets to explore Scarborough Castle, situated less than a mile from the property or pop into St Mary's churchyard to visit Anne Bronte's grave. Enjoy a stroll around the South Cliff area taking in the famous spa and Italian Gardens. Catch the cliff lift down to the beach and walk around to the peaceful North Bay, visit the renowned Sea Life Centre or explore the beautiful Peasholm Park with its boating lake, woodland walks and oriental influences.

The property is within easy reach of the rest of the Yorkshire Coast. Much like its Cornish counterpart, the North Yorkshire coastline is a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket 'n spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact, the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

This region is best known for the gorgeously gothic town of Whitby (20 miles). Playing host at one time to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the river Esk and dominated by the 13th century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries. Robin Hood's Bay (20 miles) and Sandsend (25 miles) are also worth a visit, each with their own unique charm.

The property's position means you are also perfectly placed to take in the best of North York Moors. This dramatic landscape of heather and open moorland which is just 20 miles away. Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors still cover an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales, you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. But there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. In place of harsh limestone and dramatic peaks, you'll find gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but it is cast in comforting soft focus.

We recommend taking the road from Thornton-Le-Dale or Pickering north towards Whitby to experience it in all its grandeur. There are countless pretty villages and towns to explore in the area.

A splendid location with easy access to so much the area has to offer. Being close to the sea was perfect for us and although the seagulls are a little bit noisy in the mornings it didn't bother us at all. The decor and comfort of this accommodation is commendable and we would certainly recommend it.

The cottage is quirky and therefore absolutely perfect for a getaway for two. We loved it. The owner ensured there was plenty of everything - washing up liquid, shampoo, bath wash, loo roll etc. The location is wonderful, so close to the beach and promenade. The seagulls are really noisy so earplugs would be useful. It was clean, decorated and furnRead moreished to a good spec. Would go again. Hide

Museum Terrace is, in fact, a pedestrianised way, so one cannot drive or park there. So the allocated parking is on the street & always out of your sight. Apartment was in a perfect location

Ideally located by the Spa Bridge, South Bay. You have to park on the road but not to far from the property (although lugging bags up or down is a bit of hard work) but then scratchcards are provided so that after paying for your first couple of hours parking is free for the rest of your stay.
