This stunning property, set on the Cartmel Peninsula that stretches as far as Morecambe Bay, is a perfect holiday home for the whole family, including the waggy-tailed guests! Sleeping six across three tranquil bedrooms and with space for up to two dogs, this wonderful holiday home is ideally placed for relaxing and staying close by thanks to the dog-friendly pub less than 500 metres’ walk away. There’s also plenty to do in the area including Fell Foot Park (7 miles) where the meadow and parkland are perfect for walkies.

The cottage, which offers views over the pretty village green, is bright and airy. Head upstairs through the ornate hall that still retains lots of pretty original features. Huge windows in the lounge make it a light and cheerful space in the day, but draw the curtains in the evening and it becomes a cosy haven for you to relax in in front of the wood burner, the pups curled up by your feet. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm, while the dining area is flooded with light with views out to the garden. At bedtime, slip between the sheets among soft, neutral decor for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Your proximity to the Lake District gives you so much to do from this property. Coniston Water (19 miles) is a beautiful place to enjoy a picnic and explore, and you can take a Victorian steam yacht gondola across the lake in the spring and summer. Take a self-guided walk around Kendal through Curious About Kendal that starts at Holy Trinity Church (15 miles) and discover lots of shops, cafes and pubs along the way. Outside the National Park, Fell End Nature Reserve (16 miles) offers walks through superb scenery with the opportunity to see lots of local wildlife.

A very cosy cottage in a lovely village. There were six of us staying, and we found it to be very comfortable, warm, and equipped with everything we needed to make family meals. Parking is only 20 yds away opposite the cottage and the village (which has an extraordinary number of eateries and pubs), is a 2 minute walk. Supermarket is about 25 minutRead moree drive, but there's a good local ('Premier') store. Fabulous location for days out and exploring both Lake District and Morecambe Bay area. Hide

We had a lovely 2 night pre Christmas break in The Old Hayloft, which is in a perfect location, very close to Cartmel. The property was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The boot room was a great bonus for all the walking boots and coats. It was very warm and cosy with a nice garden to the rear. We would definitely stay again.

Well equipped & tidy loft cottage, with very easy access to the village, which was a 5 minute walk away. It is a bit like a tardis, much bigger than it looks. Lots of room both inside and outside for chilling after a walk. Parking is a little limited especially now the schools are back, but you can park close by. Cartmel is a hidden gem of a villagRead moree. Lots to explore locally and your 20 minutes or so away from Bowness and the rest of the lakes. Hide

We stayed at the cottage in April 2022 and had a fantastic time. The cottage is lovely, mainly based on the 1st floor and was a great place to stay. The log burner and huge TV is the living room was a cosy place to relax after a long day hiking.
