This striking red-brick property is a beautiful place for a break with family or friends, in a semi-rural setting on the outskirts of the village of Brailsford, 5 miles from Ashbourne. Located in a quiet lane, it’s a convenient base to explore town and country. You can potter to the village shop or dog-friendly Rose and Crown pub, or head into the wilds with your hound via the Tissington Trail, a 13-mile bridle path, cycleway and footpath that offers some of the region’s prettiest views.

The property is a sympathetically-created Grade II-listed barn conversion, bearing the hallmarks of its former use, including exposed beams, timber floors and vaulted ceilings. Access is through a spacious hallway, where you’ll find a utility room (an ideal space for dog bowls and baskets). The open-plan living area, accessed via a short flight of steps from ground level, offers plenty of space to spread out and relax, prepare meals, dine, and lounge on the comfy sofas with a good book and your canine pal. The two bedrooms, a double and a twin, overlook the front and rear of the property and are furnished simply and elegantly, with natural materials and gorgeous timber floors throughout. There’s an enclosed courtyard to keep pets safe when you’re basking in the sunshine or firing up the BBQ, and you can let pets roam freely in the enclosed driveway and gardens to the front of the property.

You’re spoilt for choice in terms of local attractions, with the country house of Kedleston Hall just 4 miles east of the property, where you can explore the parkland and pleasure grounds with your dog. You can also explore picturesque Dovedale, a National Nature Reserve, 13 miles north, within the national park.

Overall the barn was brilliant. We had everything we needed and the property served as the perfect base camp to explore the Peak District. Our only comment is that the mattress in the master bedroom is very, very firm. This might not be for everyone!

Immaculately clean barn in a great location for exploring the area. All equipment provided that you would need. The area just inside the front door is ideal for a dog crate, also keeping her cool during the hot spell. It was extremely hot upstairs, but there was an unprecedented heatwave in September! We were a little disappointed in the outside arRead moreea, it would have been nice to have had a grassed area for the dog, however it was still nice to sit outside with a drink during the heatwave. A very quiet and beautiful location. Village shop and pub just a short walk away. Location pretty central to most local towns and beauty spots in the lovely Derbyshire Dales. Drove around 350 miles during our week long stay but the property was very relaxing on lazy days or when the weather wasnt too good. The owners were friendly and welcoming.
