Sleeping four guests and three dogs, this pretty cottage provides the ideal base for a week of adventures in the stunning Cumbrian countryside. Explore Windermere on your doorstep before heading home to lounge in front of the fire.

This attractive cottage has been designed around original period features and decorated with a wonderful countryside charm, creating an all-round welcoming property. The heart of the house is its farmhouse kitchen, a stunning room with large range cooker for feeding your pack. Let your doe-eyed dogs look up at you for titbits as you dine at the circular table, a great spot for sociable evening meals. Feel free to split up of an evening, watching TV in the cosy lounge or sitting down to a good book in the snug. You’ll no doubt find your four-legged friend curled up at your feet, especially in front of the flickering open fire in the living room. The property is surrounded by a bright and spacious garden, perfect for relaxing in the sun whilst your dogs chase tails to their hearts’ content.

Find the shores of Windermere just 1 mile down a tree-lined country road, the perfect distance for a daily dog walk along the vast water’s edge. The area boasts plenty of popular tourist spots, including local village of Hawkshead (3 miles), town of Bowness (9 miles) and even Windermere itself (8 miles). Visit the beautiful National Trust spot of Wray Castle (1.5 miles), a wonderful place for an evening walkies, or sniff out adventure on one of the local fells. Hike Scafell Pike (30 miles) and enjoy far-reaching views from its peak.

Lovely, fairly remote spot. The Lodge has plenty of space and is warm and comfortable. The garden is beautiful. Very dog friendly, although a place for wet clothes etc. would be a great asset. We enjoyed our stay.

A peaceful, pleasant stay. The second year we have stayed at this property. It feels secluded and cosy, with scenic walks right from the doorstep! Our dogs (and us) enjoyed the peace and quiet, an ample sized garden, and walks directly from the cottage. Looking forward to coming back!

What an amazing cottage and beautiful place to stay! We had the most amazing week and couldnt recommend enough! Beautiful traditional Lakeland cottage in a quiet remote part well away from the crowds. Lovely walks for dogs straight from the door and the majority of these can be off lead which is so important when you have more than 1 ! Garden isn't totally secure so make sure you check this before you allow your dogs out into the beautiful grounds. Make sureRead more that you bring provisions with you as limited local stores. Wonderful location walking distance down a woodland lake to lake Windermere , very quiet and no close neighbours . Loved the cottage , homely and quaint . We totally fell in love with the house and garden - the mix of old and new is charming. Really appreciated that 3 dogs are allowed .A large garden, outdoor seating and stunning walks on the doorstep made for a relaxed holiday- no need to go further afield. Location was nice, very peaceful. Kitchen well equipped. Lacking in current information about WiFi and heating thermostat (we were cold at times) The thermostat in the ensuite shower faulty, swung from 36 to 55 degrees, risk of scalding. Sofas hard and uncomfortable. Had to stand up to turn TV over due to position of Sky box. Ok but could be better

We had a relaxing week at The Lodge. The garden was beautiful, secluded and spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside even at night. The log fires were cosy and warm to side beside after a long day walking the dogs. The location was ideal, with many walks right off the doorstep, we loved walking down the route to Wray castle. Very beautiful and peaceful location with lovely walks from the door. Ambleside is a short drive or a long ( but nice and mostly off road) walk. Cottage is warm and cosy. Initial reaction on opening the cottage door was "wow" - well equipped and maintained stylish kitchen is the first thing that greets you. If its a quiet holiday in the lakes, this is the place to come. Clean, warm and well equipped cottage, full of character and tastefully furnished bedrooms. Generous patio area for eating outdoors. Good lawn area for dogs and children to play. Plenty of walks from the door step, perfect.

Had a lovely week at The Lodge, this cottage is in such a beautiful setting. Lake Windermere is about a 10 minute walk, along this walk you can also get to Wray Castle which is about an hour walk. The cottage is very well equipped. The village of Hawkshead is about a 10 minute drive which has a co-op and a few pubs and cafe which we did visit.
