At a glance

  • A peaceful location within walking distance of the traditional village of Clearwell
  • A great base for exploring the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and Welsh Borders
  • Enjoy walks from your front door with The Offa’s Dyke footpath
Property code: 88814

This dreamy barn conversion sits within a small Forest of Dean hamlet and is ideal for a couple and their canine plus-one. Dogs will love walkies on the Offa’s Dyke footpath, and waggy tails are welcome at iconic Tintern Abbey which is close by too.

Your accommodation here is spread across two floors and accessed at the upper level where there’s a lobby/utility room with space for coats, boots and dog leads. Access to the shower room is also from the entrance hall, and adjacent is the kitchen where you can cook up feasts for two while Fido watches and waits. Original beams cleverly divide the space between here and the lounge where there’s room to dine, unwind with a good book or watch a favourite movie on the Smart TV; a staircase leads down from here to a spacious double bedroom. Enjoy the country air from your own courtyard area which has outdoor furniture and space for Fido to stretch his legs.

The pretty village of Clearwell has a good local inn and is only 1 mile away, while 3 miles away is historic St Briavels, where there’s a thriving community and monthly farmers’ market. Offa’s Dyke, the great earthwork boundary built along the Anglo-Welsh border, is around a mile from your doorstep, and dogs are welcome at the romantic ruins of Tintern Abbey which stands on the banks of the River Wye, 8 miles south.

Absolutely perfect. The location is great and we really appreciated the book with suggestions of where to go, great walks and places to eat. Everything was clean and stocked really well. We loved our stay at The Little Barn. It was a perfect, peaceful getaway - very clean, well equipped and homely. We had our large dog with us, and the space was good for him. The Barn is very isolated, which we loved, with 3 great pubs a short walk/drive away in Clearwell. We had a lovely holiday at The little barn everything was as described very quaint and quiet, with everything you need for a home from home break away. Andy and Anne were very helpful and informative. Lots of recommendations from past visitors for places to visit and eat which were all true to word.

The cottage is very comfortable and well-equipped. Its just 1 mile from Offas Dyke Path so we were able to walk from Chepstow to Monmouth with a good bus link between the two towns. Sue and Andy couldnt have been more helpful or accommodating and ensured we had everything we needed. Ideal!

This is a lovely, well appointed cottage. There is no pub or shop within walking distance but only a few minutes away by car. This means the stay is really peaceful and relaxing. The owners live on site and were very friendly and helpful.

The Little Barn is small but perfectly kitted out. Very comfortable bed and good quality bedding. Good location for Forest of Dean attractions and good for cycling. Only niggle is the outside area which is rather open and stark.
