Close to the sea and nestling in beautiful secluded woodland surroundings adjacent to Queen Victoria’s island palace of Osborne House, this retreat is ideal for a magical romantic getaway.

This charming and unique cottage enjoys a private woodland setting that is adjacent to Osbourne House, Queen Victoria’s island palace. This secluded romantic retreat is the perfect getaway for couples and their canine third wheels looking to escape their busy everyday lives. Sitting in beautiful gardens, you and your four-legged friends can relax and unwind playing ball and listening to the sounds of the local wildlife. Take a walk to the pretty town of Cowes (less than 1 mile) to see its spectacular coastline that offers an abundance of fantastic walks, sheltered bays, sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery.

Formerly part of the Osborne Estate, this cottage is Grade II listed and was carefully designed for the royal children to imagine what the Indian Raj might be like. It is traditional in style and complemented by a sumptuous colour palette and fabrics. Floor-to-ceiling windows hug the open aspect lounge/dining room which invites you to snuggle up with your furry companion after a day of walking adventures. The secluded courtyard offers an escape to wine and dine each other in while your pups doze in the sunshine. The two bedrooms (one of which is a small bunk bedroom suitable only for children) provide a tranquil haven to retreat to.

The scenic and well-known sailing town of Cowes is less than 1 mile from the cottage and is bustling with activity. Surrounded by some of the most magnificent coastline you are likely to see on the Isle of Wight, this enviable location is a paradise for dog walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. Explore the vast beaches, dipping those toes and paws in the sea as you go whilst appreciating the natural beauty surrounding you. Be sure to take time to wander around the town’s pretty little shops, cafes and restaurants before retreating to your enchanting Raj-inspired hideaway.

In the present Covid 19 situation the isolation was ideal. Good local and beach walks nearby. Hotel staff very helpful. Would have been convenient for special meals if circumstances had allowed. A unique Victorian hideaway with modern comforts. We feel refreshed for the struggle ahead.

Absolutely stunning cottage in a georgous setting, we've been here 4 times now and will keep coming back. So handy for the ferry, East Cowes terminal is only 2 minutes down the road. Recommended.

Ideal setting for dogs very private, quirky, atmospheric but not ideal if you want brightness inside.

We have now stayed twice at the Indian Summer House and we really love it. I would recommend this place for nature lovers, dog owners, people with young children. Lovely comfortable cottage in a superb location, we were watching badgers feeding the other night, nice and peaceful, the hotel is just over the way if you require a drink or a meal. Osbourne is just over the fence with all the lovely mature gardens and trees. Highly recommended.

Very unusual place to stay, but only suitable for two or three nights as it is so small

We were warned by the hotel that a wedding was to take place the next day (a Saturday) but although we could hear the music up to midnight, there is a large hedge so you are quite secluded. Staff really friendly. Just 5 minutes from the ferry in East Cowes. You cannot see Osborne House but it is only a short walk from the main road.
