This sweet property is tucked away within the grounds of a beautiful country home on the English/Welsh border. From its elevated position, this lovely Shepherd’s hut has magnificent views across the Welsh mountains. It’s an area for history buffs and dog walkers with an abundance of Europe’s surviving castles in the area and the Offa’s Dyke footpath just 9 miles away. Entertain friends and their pooches on the spacious terrace with a glass of wine and home-cooked grub.

The interior of the hut is quaint and open plan, with a lounge, kitchen, dining and sleeping area contained in one space. Brightly coloured accessories and natural woollen throws add a touch of personality to the home. For a restful night’s sleep, step up into the built-in double bed where you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the stunning mountain range beyond. Two pull-out beds can be used for a family and there is a shower room with shower. A separate ECO WC can be found outside the hut. Off-road parking for two cars is available.

This delightful shepherd’s hut is the perfect place to explore the romantic Norman ruins of Brecon Castle, which overlooks the River Usk (32 miles). For walkers and inquisitive dogs, the location couldn’t be better. You can find plenty of scenic walks along the Offa’s Dyke footpath or take a trip into the historic market town of Hay-on-Wye to get some fresh produce for your evening meals (17.5 miles). The town is a true literary hub, with an annual festival celebrating the art of literature.

Fabulous view and sky at night. Could see all the stars, as no light pollution. Our dog loved the open space, no issues with it not being fenced in. Great base for Hay on Wye, only a half hour easy drive.

A terrific location. Really rural and the night sky view is excellent. So quiet and the deck is great attribute. Be prepared for an outstanding morning view, whilst living "off-grid".

Accommodation was well stocked, hot tap very loose in the kitchen sink and intermittent gas through the hobs but both worked ok. A list of items held at the accommodation may have made packing for the break easier as we found we had doubled up on a lot of items. Just sheet and blankets on the bed, would recommend a duvet at least as an option for cRead moreool evenings, Hide

A beautiful location and a comfy cabin. The hill is a bit of a climb but it is possible to take a car to the top in dry weather. (In reverse preferably) The compost toilet might not be for everyone but this is a place to get away from it all. No wi-fi or TV (Hurrah!!) but 4g reception is good. If you have a dog I'd recommend Frontline Tick protectiRead moreon beforehand. Prestignae has a great butcher, greengrocer and Farm Shop. Highly recommend the organic pizzas and great wine list at Daphne's. Hide
