Lovingly renovated detached cottage providing a relaxing and romantic getaway in rural Somerset. Within 1.5 miles of the village pub, 0.5 miles from the shop and 5 miles from the vibrant market town of Frome.

Tucked away in the Somerset countryside, just 5 miles from the vibrant market town of Frome, this detached cottage is perfectly placed for memorable days out with the dog. Set out on foot to explore the local area, stopping for a bite to eat in the village pub, or jump in the car to reach the picturesque Mendip Hills (20 miles) or the Roman city of Bath (20 miles). Back at the cottage, cosy up beside the roaring wood burner, enjoy a long soak in the free-standing bath or tuck into a tasty BBQ in the suntrap courtyard.

Beautifully modernised, this rural retreat boasts spacious and open-plan accommodation with antique furniture and plenty of cosy snoozing spots for four-legged friends. Prepare romantic meals for two in the stylish bespoke kitchen area, where you will find everything you could need including a Nespresso coffee machine for that all-important pre-walk caffeine hit. When it’s time for bed, climb the spiral staircase to the beautiful king-size bedroom, and spa-like bath and shower room in the eaves. Outside, the enclosed patio garden is a wonderful spot for enjoying al fresco drinks and meals together in the sunshine or under the star-filled sky.

Head out on foot with your four-legged friend in tow to explore the unspoilt countryside, passing the medieval Nunney Castle (1.5 miles) along the way. For the cosmopolitan canine, the vibrant market towns of Frome and Bruton (8 miles) both offer a host of independent boutiques and cafes to choose from. A little further afield, the Mendips are a popular choice among walkers and cyclists alike, home to spectacular gorges, rocky outcrops and ancient monuments high up on hilltops. Or, for salty sea dogs, the north Somerset coast is just 32 miles away, where you will find dog-friendly stretches of shore in and around Weston-super-Mare.

Loved staying at The Hideaway, greeted with a bottle of wine cooling in the fridge and a homemade cake, which was delicious. Great location, with the dog enjoying the wooded area which belonged to the property and even managed to see three deer, would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.

This is a lovely cottage, which is very well maintained, and is a good base for exploring the area. It is just off one of the main A roads that connects the surrounding towns, and Frome is less than 10 min drive away. It was lovely to arrive to some home baked cake which was delicious as well as a bottle of wine to chill with. There is so much to dRead moreo in the surrounding area, as well as some wonderful restaurants. Definitely recommend a visit to The High Pavement restaurant, which was amazing. Hide

The cottage is of a high standard in its build & fittings, and heated by an efficient biomass system. The owners were most welcoming, helpful and informative. The nearby ancient village of Nunney made for an appealing short walk, and Frome was just a short drive away.

The Hideaway is a wonderfully well equipped, cosy cottage and can be fully recommended. Everything is brand new and well designed. There is a log burner but we only used it once, despite it being a chilly week (cold but bright and dry), as the temperature was perfect across the house. There is plenty to see nearby and though you can easily reach BaRead moreth and Bristol we found more than enough to fill the week within a 12 mile radius. Nunney is a short walk away and lots of nice places nearby. Hide
