Escape to the Cumbrian countryside and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Northern Fells, choosing this delightful couples retreat as the exclusive base for your adventures.

Stay at this rustic, romantic bolthole close to scenic woodland strolls and challenging climbs up fells. The pretty property used to be a hayloft of a former pub and sleeps two guests and two canine companions.

The property is bright and colourful, with everything you need for your getaway. An open-plan living space has a practical kitchen, a useful dining table for two guests and a comfortable lounge area with sofa, TV and MP3 docking station. Rest your weary feet and paws while listening to some music or watching your favourite film. Upstairs is the king-size bedroom with its vaulted ceiling and exposed stone wall, adding some traditional character to the space. Open up the double doors onto your balcony which has sweeping views towards Blencathra and other fells. The dogs will enjoy sunbathing here as you get ready for the day ahead.

Find a new leash of life in the scenic woodlands of Greystoke Forest (3 miles), just on the edge of the Lake District. Challenge yourselves with a climb up Blencathra (10.5 miles) or Skiddaw (18 miles). Both offer superb views which make the climb worthwhile. Stroll the shores of Ullswater (12.5 miles) or hop on the Ullswater Steamers boat service, which travels the length of the lake offering hop-on and hop-off points across the way. Dogs are more than welcome onboard, too. Browse the charming market town of Penrith (11 miles) which has plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and dog-friendly pubs. Alternatively, pay the historic city of Carlisle (14.5 miles) a visit and soak up the culture of one of England’s most northern cities.

  • 1 bedroom - king-size zip-and-link (can be made up as a twin on request at the time of booking)

This is a lovely property with beautiful views from the upstairs. Good location for getting out and about, with M6 and A66 within a short drive, but set in the peace of the countryside. It is equipped with everything you need for self catering. Suzanne and Dennis are friendly helpful hosts.

Loved our stay here and would recommend to anyone. The house was clean and tidy, felt very welcome. The location was great for being rural and only a short drive to local villages with pubs and not far from Penrith which has everything else you will need.

I arrived at the cottage to find to be really warm and cozy. The was a doggy selection pack, turkey dinner and for home made mince pies and bottle of mulled wine which was a really nice touch. The cottage was very clean and tidy. It had pretty much everything needed for my stay. It situated in a small village with easy reach of the Lakes and nearesRead moret town Penrith. The host were brilliant and very friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider staying again. Thank you Hide

We had a great stay here. The cottage was located in a very convenient junction which is close to most places we want to visit. The room has a great view of farm, sheep and mountains, it was clean and well equipped, owners were nice too. We would love to come back again and recommend it to our friends :)

This cottage is perfect for 2 people who want to visit the lake district area but stay away from the tourist parts. Keswick is 15-20 mins drive with Kendal approx. 45 mins. Nearest lake is Ullswater which has steamboat trips across the lake (ideal for viewing the fantastic scenery). Nearest pub/restaurant (4 mins in car/2 miles approx.) is The Dog Read more& Gun which serves excellent food (booking advisable). I would thoroughly recommend this property and would consider it exceptional value for money. Hide
