Set on the east side of Herefordshire’s Golden Valley, this rambling wisteria-clad farmhouse is a fantastic venue for large family get-togethers or celebrations with friends. Stride out on walks from your doorstep overlooking the Wye Valley before returning to the nine-bedroom property for laughter-filled nights indoors or out. Five dogs are welcome to join you at this spacious retreat and will delight in the freedom to roam the enclosed gardens and 5 acres of grounds. For the humans, there’s a wood-fired hot tub, brick built BBQ and table tennis.
Inside, the farmhouse is full of character thanks to exposed beams, latch doors and richly coloured furnishings. It’s a comfortable place to relax, whether you’re sipping pre-dinner cocktails, watching a movie on the Smart TV or warming your paws in front of the wood burner. While the main property has four king-size bedrooms with garden views, the separate converted stable block offers a further five suites, one with a luxurious four-poster bed. The enclosed outdoor space lends itself perfectly to entertaining, with a firepit, undercover games room and children’s play area to keep the younger members of the family occupied.
Sniff out some culture in the famous town of books, Hay-on-Wye, 4 miles from the property. It’s a lovely place to mooch around and has several pubs that welcome muddy paws. There are some beautiful countryside walks in the area too, including the trail from Hay Bluff (8.5 miles) at the start of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. Closer to home, in the hills above the Golden Valley, enjoy a stroll at Arthur’s Stone (2.5 miles), an atmospheric Neolithic burial chamber made of great stone slabs.
