Nestling in the beautiful countryside of the North York Moors, this lovely bungalow makes an ideal holiday home for a couple with dogs looking for a quiet spot to relax and explore. Close to the picturesque towns of Helmsley (5.5 miles), Thirsk (10 miles) and Pickering (18 miles), the cottage lies in a peaceful location near a host of dog-friendly attractions. There are outdoor kennels available at the property, and the owner can arrange a dog-sitting service for you.

A charming single-level cottage, this comfortable property features a cosy lounge/diner where you can relax, snuggle up and watch a movie or read a book, and enjoy a meal while preparing for the next day’s adventure. From the lounge, patio doors lead outside where there’s a raised patio with a BBQ in an enclosed courtyard. Here you can dine alfresco and enjoy an evening glass of wine. There is also a communal area with picnic tables.

A wonderful base from which to explore the dramatic landscapes of the North York Moors, the cottage is ideal for visiting Sutton Bank (4 miles), Bransdale (20 miles) and the nature reserve at Bridestone, Crosscliff and Blakey Topping (26.5 miles). Dogs will also love exploring the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (14 miles) and are welcome at attractions including the Ryedale Folk Museum (14.5 miles) and Flamingo Land (20 miles), as well as the gardens at Castle Howard (18 miles), Duncombe Park (6 miles) and Rievaulx Terrace (3.5 miles). There are several dog-friendly English Heritage and National Trust sites including Rievaulx Abbey (3 miles), Byland Abbey (9 miles), and Helmsley Castle (5 miles). You can also take dogs for a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains which run from Pickering to Whitby.

The Granary is a well equipped converted barn very well situated to visit beautiful Yorkshire towns such as Helmsley, with its castle, walled garden and National Birds of Prey centre. The cottage is very comfortable with beautiful views of the moors. We had a lovely week there in September and enjoyed seeing the sheep each morning and of course heaRead morering the cockerel. Hide

The Granary was a lovely cottage. Clean and comfy for us and our 2 dogs. Alot of thought has gone into making it a lovely place to stay.

Great location, perfect for exploring the area, including lovely walks from the door. A quiet location, but a working farm so be aware that there are farmyard animal noises! Would definitely recommend.

Cottage met our expectations fully, position was first class, owners v helpful, walks good. Atticus , loved chasing the rabbits! Unsure what turkeys were!

The property was a lovely, home from home feeling, very cosy. Everything you would need for a relaxing week away. Our little one year old Pup (Buddy) enjoyed barking at the many farm animals, Horses, sheep/new born lambs, cows, hens and plenty of rabbits in the connecting fields. A lovely cottage with everything you need to get away. Great location and base for exploring the area around on day trips. Lovely and warm with plenty of room. Would highly recommend and would definitely return for another relaxing week away. Great for dogs too (as long as they don't mind the farm animals)

Great location for walks without driving. Dogs loved it. Loved the open plan downstairs - we lived there. Handy for Helmsley, Roseberry Topping and the NY Moors.

Bright, clean, spacious and very warm. There is a ground floor bedroom and shower room which would make it a good choice for someone with limited mobility. The owners kindly left milk, eggs, biscuits and a bottle of wine (!) to greet us. The cottage is about 10 miles north of Helmsley, a lovely run in the car in the autumn. Loved the cottage spacious and a really nice space. I loved listening to the farm animals in the mornings! The location is great very accessible and easy to get to Helmsley and surrounding areas including Rievaulx and Bylands Abbey. Helmsley is such a lovely village nice shops and great places to eat.

The cottage was lovely and the thoughtful gifts of biscuits, milk, eggs and fizz was a lovely touch. Plenty to do in the area and the countryside/views were breath taking. Wonderful place to stay. It is a working farm , so all that goes with that. We loved it , maybe too far away from amenities for some but depends what you are looking for. Lovely starter pack for when we arrived and bought plenty more eggs while we were there! Owners always nearby but never intruded. Would return at any opportunity.

We had a lovely stay at The Granary. The farm was very cute, our children enjoyed seeing the animals. It was situated well to visit the coast and local towns, and comfortable to come back to in an evening to relax. Cottage location is brilliant to travel from to see North Yorkshire sites , and market towns. Cottage itself is easily big enough for 4 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs. Kitchens is well equipped .
