There are several dog-friendly English Heritage and National Trust sites including Rievaulx Abbey (3 miles), Byland Abbey (9 miles), and Helmsley Castle (5 miles). You can also take dogs for a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains which run from Pickering to Whitby.
