Formerly a dairy, this cottage near Appleby has been thoughtfully converted into a cosy and charming cottage, perfect for couples wishing to escape to a tranquil part of Cumbria.

This snug bolthole is perfect for a pair of pups and their owners looking to fill their days with walkies and days out. Just 2 miles from Appleby with its handful of tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, this converted dairy sits on the Dales High Way and welcomes you back from adventures with its warming wood burner and snug, open-plan living and sleeping area.

 

Step inside this charming, single-storey home which is filled with light and cosy interiors. The open-plan design is great for couples and means you can keep a watchful eye on your dogs curled up by the wood burner. Take a comfortable seat on the sofa or the chair which sit in front of patio doors and a well-stocked bookcase from which you can choose a book and delve in. The TV is perfect for quiet nights in after a meal at the dining table or drinks in the garden on the raised decked area. Find all you need to feed hungry tummies in the compact kitchen area. Drift off in the inviting super-king-size bed and start your day with an invigorating shower in the separate shower room. There is off-road parking for two cars.

 

Tucked between the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines AONB, there are plenty of places for you to explore. From your door, head out on the Dales High Way and treat your pups to stick-chasing adventures full of new and exciting scents. For a day by the water, make your way to Ullswater (21 miles) and board a traditional steamer for a cruise.

We had a wonderful stay at the Dairy. It really ticked all the boxes for what we were looking for in a cottage - cozy and homely, secure garden for the dog, nice walks on the doorstep and in easy reach of lots of great places to explore. The bed was huge and the kitchen well equipped, the log burner perfect for cozying up on autumnal evenings. The owners, Sandra and Frank, were lovely. Very friendly and on hand if we needed anything (which we didn't). The garden really was enclosed as described which meant we could let our dog out unattended. Nearby Appleby was stunning at this time of the year as the leaves were turning. Wonderful light, airy cottage. Perfect for a week away with our collie dog. Fantastic footpaths from the garden gate, cosy log burner to come back to in the evening. Absolutely perfect!!

The house is beautifully thought out, stylish, comfortable and perfect in its location. Loved our holiday. Such a pretty part of Cumbria to stay in. We really enjoyed exploring the Eden Valley. Dairy Hoff with its enclosed dog friendly garden is a gem of a place to stay and enjoy lots of great walks with your dog.

This is a beautiful cottage, very cozy with everything you need. We loved the safe enclosed garden for our cocker spaniel. Sandra and Frank were excellent hosts on hand if you needed any advice about walks or places to visit. There are walks into Appleby and the picturesque Rutter Falls straight from the cottage. Our stay at the Dairy was truly outstanding ! Our two dogs enjoyed the freedom of a secured garden and the cottage provided us with everything we needed. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful with their local knowledge. Also great location for touring around the beautiful countryside. We couldn't have wished for a better holiday !

Lovely 4 nights spent at The Dairy. Sandra and Frank were wonderful hosts and along with Aaron and Carolyn from the pub give great walking and driving routes. The log burner was fab making the whole place nice d cosy during the 50+ mile an hour winds of Tuesday night. A thoroughly relaxing stay. Thank you.

The owners were brilliant before and while we were there . The dairy was everything we hoped it would be plus more. The garden was safe for dogs, the porch was brilliant for wet dogs. Lovely little cottage in a great location. Very nice local pub literally next door and walks straight from the cottage. The garden is truly dog safe, our escape artist did not find a way out. Comfy bed, telly with Netflix, small kitchen, but with everything we needed.

The Dairy Hoff is as described on the site, finished to a very high standard and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The garden is perfect if you have a dog, secure and safe.
