This period property is both charming and stylish, making it the perfect venue for a romantic getaway for two.

Enjoy a romantic couples’ escape at this period cottage, located on the privately-owned Atkinson Ground Estate in the heart of the Lake District. Nestled close to Coniston Water, you’ll find ample mountain and lakeside walks on your doorstep - making it the perfect place to explore with a canine companion. And once you’ve finished exploring, return to your home away from home and relax beside the wood burner with a well-earned glass of wine.

Character and charm ooze from this property, where traditional and contemporary decor combine to achieve a homely and cosy ambiance. Step through the oak front door and into the open-plan kitchen/diner, where you can cook a romantic meal or quick breakfast beneath the traditional exposed beams. Stairs lead up to the warm and welcoming lounge - the perfect place to unwind in the evening and watch a film with your loved one. In the summer months, venture out to the small patio area to the front of the cottage which makes for a peaceful spot for a delicious BBQ or al fresco drink. Back inside though, a further stairway takes you from the lounge to the king-size bedroom, which has been tastefully decorated in neutral tones and features a decorative fireplace and a delightful window seat so you can sit and take in the incredible countryside view.

Explore the northeast head of Coniston Water and its spectacular scenery. The surrounding rugged mountain ranges offer a challenging but enjoyable trek for adventurous walkers, while the local area offers far more gentle strolls for all abilities. Lake Windermere is just 7.5 miles from the property, with plenty of boat trips, water sports, and lakeside walks to enjoy. The Dairy is a lovely, well-situated and well-equipped cottage, and really spacious compared with other 1-bedroom options. We were glad we'd taken our small car though, given the car parking (half-) bay is so tight... A beautiful cottage with a brilliant view of the mountains beside Coniston Lake. We really appreciated the welcome pack left for us and found the cottage to be very comfy and perfect for our stay. The cottage is beautiful and it is based in a great location. Only 10 min walk to the lake. But there were a few things which I would have expected better for the price paid: - the allocated parking space is along the main road and most of the car will be on the road. Something to consider for larger vehicles. Also there is nowhere to reverse on thRead moree road so we had to drive a bit further to be able to park. - no small logs, lighter provided for the log burner so we couldnt use it - poor wifi Hide

Great location and cosy log burner. Very clean and welcome pack of goodies was a nice touch. The bed was very warm and comfortable, but the house is very chilly first thing. Please bear in mind, if you are taking a dog there is no garden and you will need to take your dog on a lead onto the lane next to the cottage.

The cottage was very warm and cosy which was perfect when returning from our walks on the fells. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed. The nearest pub was around 1 mile away and Coniston was slightly further which was sufficiently remote without feeling isolated.

Nice comfortably furnished spacious property for two people We had issues with the heating but I understand from the agent that this has now been resolved. The Dairy is a beautiful cottage to stay at. It is in a great location not far from Coniston Lake and other locations. The cottage itself is all done out to a high spec and was extremely welcoming and well presented. We were sad to leave! When we return to the Lake District we would love to return to The Dairy as it met all our expectations.
