Ideally situated in one of Somerset’s most idyllic areas, this charming semi-detached converted barn is perfect for exploring Exmoor, the Quantock Hills and the picturesque Somerset coastline.

This pretty barn conversion is situated in Kilve, which lies within the Quantock Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfect for a family of four, including your loyal canine, there are two comfortable and welcoming bedrooms for you to retire to after exploring the local area. Kilve Beach, a Site of Special Scientific Interest is just a mile away by car and has plenty of rock pools to discover with your hound by your side. If you’d rather stay inside, relax in the bright and fresh living area, admiring the superb exposed wooden beams.

The single-level property is cosy and comfortable with little homely touches that make it a welcoming place to come back to after a day out. Calming and neutral colours with dark wooden beams dotted around the home promote a feeling of peace and tranquillity, and remind you that you’re in the heart of the Somerset countryside. The compact open-plan living area has everything you need, so whether you’re snoozing on the sofa with your pup by your feet or cooking up a storm in the kitchen, you’ll be in your element here.

When it’s time to head out, make sure you take a stroll around the grounds of Dunster Castle (12 miles). It sits on a wooded hill and has existed since at least Norman times, with spectacular views from the castle toward the Bristol Channel, the Quantocks and Exmoor. If you’d prefer to walk through Exmoor, the nearest tourist centre is only 12 miles away, or you could head on further to the Brendon Hills (17 miles). If it’s the sea that you and your furry pal desire, pop to St. Audrie’s Bay (5 miles) to admire the two stunning waterfalls that cascade down the cliffs.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A really comfortable stay, the cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for our family of 3. Kilve provided a great base for exploring Somerset. The local pub has a nice beer garden with play area and serves good food, recommend booking ahead as it was busy!

Very enjoyable holiday, loved the garden it felt so secluded. Very good base to explore. Very good walking area. Enjoyed visiting Dunster Castle, Watchet, Minehead, Cheddar gorge. Also found the Walled garden of Cannington, which is rather special . Musn't forget Kilve beach the first walk we did, ended up at Quantoxhead.

A well equipped cottage in a great location for getting around. The local shop and pub, with great food, are in walking distance. Lovely dog walks easily available. Some traffic noise.

Thank you, we had a great week, even with the torrential rain and heavy showers. The area is lovely, especially the woodland walks and nearby Dunster. We were totally put off going to Kilve beach, after reading so many reviews on Trip Advisor about the parking fiasco there, and people being fined in spite of paying for parking- surprised and disappRead moreointed at this esp during current covid situation. Had the weather been better, we may have walked there instead. Great good at the Hood. Hide
