One of four delightful properties furnished to a high standard with original features, situated on a large tranquil farm in the heart of the North Devon countryside.

Set on a farm, this property is located very close to the small North Devon village of Umberleigh. A beautifully designed barn conversion, it has all the facilities you’d need for a comfortable getaway. The property welcomes two guests and two dogs to stay and has a private patio area as well as a shared garden space perfect for a game of fetch. Sit out with your morning coffee before heading out for the day to explore the nearby town of Barnstaple (8 miles) or surfing beach of Westward Ho! (17.5 miles).

 

With its barn-style doors, exposed stone feature walls and wooden ceiling beams, the property has kept a real feel of its barn conversion, making it a unique place to stay. Prepare a romantic meal in the spacious and well-lit kitchen/diner to be enjoyed with a glass of wine at the dining table. On a warm evening dine alfresco on the patio furniture before heading to the communal games room for a competitive game of table tennis, pool or table football. On cooler evenings the king-size bedroom/lounge area is perfect for cosy nights in. Snuggle up on the sofa in front of the TV or relax in bed with a good book. Start the morning with a shower and a cooked breakfast before heading out for the day’s adventure.

 

Within Umberleigh you’ll find a local pub, scenic woodland walking routes and a train station that takes you into Barnstaple or out to the cathedral city of Exeter. Spend the day shopping and sightseeing, exploring the quay, or dining out at one of Exeter's many restaurants. Saunton Sands beach is 17 miles away and welcomes your furry friends all year around. With its 3.5 mile stretch of golden sand and dunes it is the perfect spot for stick throwing and sunset strolls.

We had a wonderful time at Butter Barn, the owners were very friendly and nothing too much trouble to help. Delightful setting, horses, chickens, wonderful to see. Nice little cottage for a short break,a little small for a longer stay . Nice kitchen/diner with plenty of storage space. bed lounge rather too cosy. Hottest water supply. Really great place to stay, very clean and has everything you need. Great location for the Tarka trail and lots of great beaches close by. We loved it so much we extended our stay! We would definitely recommend staying here and we plan to return again soon.

The cottage is the best I have visited in the last 5 years. Everything that you need is provided right down to washing detergent for the washing machine. It was immaculately clean,well maintained and there is a well equipped Games Barn to entertain the whole family if it rains. Books and DVDs also available to borrow, who could want more?

The owners were welcoming and on hand should we need anything. The wine and biscuits were a nice touch as were the complimentary eggs left on the doorstep.The accommodation was clean and homely all be it small which we were expecting so it happily accommodated the two of us plus two dogs.
