Bright and modern single-storey cottage next to farmland with captivating views of The Cheviot Hills, stunning sunsets and official National Park Dark Skies. Perfect getaway for a family or couples.
The delightful cottage is set on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, surrounded by open countryside. You’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to dog-walking routes, with The Cheviot Hills and The Pennine Way within easy reach. You’ll also be 25 miles from the Northumberland coast, with its paw-friendly beaches. The cottage sleeps four guests and three canine buddies, making it ideal for couples or a small family, and has a sociable, open-plan layout. There’s also ample outdoor seating for al fresco dining.
Two shallow steps lead to the single-storey accommodation. Once inside, discover a handy utility/boot room where you can store all your dog-walking gear. From here, head into the spacious and contemporary lounge/kitchen/diner, which is flooded with natural light. Hard floors run throughout and there’s also underfloor heating, creating cosy dozing spots for the hounds. Dine together around the large dining table, before sinking into the comfortable seating to watch TV. The cottage has two bedrooms: a super-king-size and a twin with a sofa bed to accommodate another guest if needed. Both bedrooms have en-suite facilities. Outside, woofers must remain on a lead in the garden, due to the nearby working farm. There’s a handy outside tap for cleaning muddy paws.
The walking opportunities in The Cheviot Hills are endless. Head to Wooler Common (24 miles) for waterside strolls around the ponds, or let the pups burn off steam on a walk at Linhope Spout (23 miles) to marvel at the dramatic waterfalls. Alternatively, get the tails wagging on a climb to the summit of The Cheviot (28 miles), Northumberland’s highest point. The coastal town of Bamburgh (25 miles) makes a great doggy day out. Picnic in the grounds of the imposing castle, before paddling in the water and strolling along the pristine white sand on the beach.
