Tucked away in the historic town of Kendal this property is ideal for exploring the Lake district and has everything you need on your doorstep.
This stunning property, located just 11 miles from beautiful Windermere, is the perfect property for families and friends that want a holiday with their canine companions in tow. Sleeping five across three peaceful bedrooms and with enough space for up to two dogs, it won’t be long before you’re off out hunting down the famous Kendal Mint Cake in one of the many shops in the town or heading further for walkies in Grizedale Forest (13 miles) where there are plenty of squirrels to chase.
The cottage is bright and airy with a great combination of rustic farmhouse charm and contemporary styling. The large kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a hearty meal for everyone, while the original beams and exposed brickwork in the lounge make it a cosy space to relax in in front of the wood burner-effect gas fire. The lean-to conservatory gives the room lots of light in the day; your pups will enjoy finding a sunny spot to curl up in. Upstairs, the bedrooms promote a tranquil night’s sleep; wake up refreshed and head down to the patio for an al fresco breakfast. Sizzle up a BBQ out here on a warm summer’s evening.
Head to Holker Hall and Gardens (17 miles) for stately home walkies among 25 acres of woodland, meadows and deer park; there’s even a dog-friendly cafe where there is a water tap and bowls for thirsty hounds. Sizergh (4.5 miles) is another estate where children and dogs will love getting muddy along the trails. For a different way of exploring Bowness-on-Windermere, sniff out clues on the Treasure Trail that starts right by the lake (9.5 miles), then finish the day with a leisurely boat ride from Windermere Lake Cruises.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
