Set in the pretty village of Moulton, this luxurious two-bedroom property will appeal to families and friends (including four-legged ones) seeking to discover the ancient castles, quaint towns and glorious countryside of North Yorkshire. Stroll to the dog-friendly village pub to sample some of the local ales or enjoy one of the many walks on offer from the doorstep along quiet country lanes. Enjoy a flutter at Catterick Racecourse (5 miles) where dogs are allowed into the Course Enclosure, and try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding at nearby Ellerton Lake (4 miles) where dogs can join the lesson too.

Stepping into the entrance of this Grade II listed property, there is plenty of space to wipe clean mucky paws and remove outdoor clothing. Pick up some local produce to prepare for your supper in the well-equipped kitchen where you can linger over your meals at the stylish dining table. Your hound can warm their paws in front of the living room wood burner while you curl up on the plump sofa with a glass of wine and relax. When it’s time for bed, retire to one of the two restful super king-size bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities. Pack your pet’s favourite bedding so they get a good night’s sleep too. Outside, your pup can stretch their paws in the pretty walled garden as you enjoy a drink on the patio.

Explore the cobbled market place at Richmond (7.5 miles) and picnic in the gardens of dog-friendly Richmond Castle, one of the oldest Norman fortifications in England. Enjoy a gentle stroll around the Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve (9 miles) through the woodland and heath. Take the lead on a bracing walk through the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales (18.5 miles) before rewarding your efforts with a meal at a traditional country inn.

The Davies Clan had a fantastic Christmas at Artists Retreat, Andrew and Colleen were very supportive when the Electric Grid going down due to bad weather. The two en suite bedrooms were exactly right for us and my 89 year old Mum and her husband even though there was a stone step down to the shower she was fine. Great to have the log fire ,didn't Read moreneed the central heating on very high at all, would recommend Artists retreat to family and friends. Hide

A warm comfortable cottage in a lovely location in the little village, so handy for the A1 & A66 The enclosed garden was a bonus for the dog. Two large bedrooms with lovely big beds & each bedroom had its own facilities ( which makes a big difference) Parking not the best especially when it's wet. We had a lovely week & went out and about nearby foRead morer some good walks. The local pub (which is an easy walk from the cottage) had very good food & friendly staff. Hide

This is a lovely, comfortable and well equipped cottage everything you need for an enjoyable holiday Ideal for two couples as bedrooms are opposite sides of the house. Great peaceful location. Cottage was warm and cosy, ideal during dreary March weather, perfect for relaxing. The secure garden was great for our dog and the outside area was lovely to sit out on the sunny days that we had. I am sure it will be a real sun trap during the summer months. Beautiful peaceful location. Cottage warm and cosy in winter months. Perfect place to relax and reflect. Great pub on the doorstep within walking distance. Easy access to lots of lovely villages / walks & the coast.

Lovely property in great location However it is not 5 star. For that I wouldnt expect scratched and chipped non stick pans and mismatched crocks. Thats a minor point. A major one for us was the cleanliness. Not minor issues either. All raised with owner and rectified quickly but it shouldnt have been necessary and put a major damper on the first feRead morew days of our holiday. Benefit of the doubt that theyd been badly let down by their cleaner and launderers. But needs addressing urgently Hide

The Artist's Retreat is a well modernised and very comfortably equipped cottage in a quiet location in a beautiful North Yorkshire village. The welcome pack, including a bottle of prosecco, was much appreciated! Access is very easy from Scotch Corner on the A1(M) and it is an excellent centre for visiting the historic sites of North Yorkshire and TRead moreeesside and walking in the Dales. The Black Bull, a great Gastropub, is within easy walking distance, which is a bonus. Thoroughly recommended. Hide

This is an absolutely lovely cottage that I would recommend to anyone. Beds were large and comfortable. Beautifully decorated and a lovely design. Beautiful back garden and seating area which we used a lot. Very hot weather and the lovely owner brought round some sheets to use instead of duvets which was very kind. Lovely cottage in a lovely village. Ideal for a relaxing weekend break. Nice touch from the owner leaving some welcome goodies for us. Highly recommend The Black Bull for food and only a two minute walk away too
