Charming cottage for two with ample space inside to relax. A getaway for fresh air, pleasant walks and fun days out. Perfect for a romantic break for a couple.

This delightful single-storey property, located just 7.5 miles from Newcastle, is an ideal little bolthole for a couple that wants a holiday where you can enjoy the hustle and bustle as well as the countryside, all with the loyal hound in tow. Sleeping you both in a cosy double bedroom, this cottage is perfectly placed for some fantastic historic attractions. Your pup will be happy having a run around in an enclosed dog exercising field before you all head off for a ride on Tanfield Railway (1 mile) or to the famous Beamish, the Living Museum of the North (3 miles).

The property, which can be booked with two others on-site to sleep six, is contemporary and comfortable. The open-plan living area is fresh and bright thanks to a large skylight above the sofa, making it the perfect spot to read a book in the morning. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a hearty breakfast and eat at the dining table – just watch out for those puppy dog eyes – before taking an indulgent shower in the sleek and stylish bathroom. After a long day of exploration, sink into bed for a tranquil night’s sleep among calming, pretty decor. There is also a shared paved area with bench-style seating outside.

Make sure you visit the spectacular landscaped gardens of Gibside (4.5 miles) where you can walk winding paths and take in fine Derwent Valley views. If you’re after dramatic coastline, Seaham is only 19.5 miles away and features rugged cliffs and imposing headlands that you can see from the coast path. Stroll the grounds of Auckland Castle Deer House and Park (21 miles), where you’ll see the deer house built in 1760 in Gothic Revival style to provide shelter for the resident deer. And for some historic city culture, head to Durham, just 11.5 miles away.

Lovely little cottage with a lovely on site cafe owned by the owner. The cottage was situated in a beautiful setting with lovely walks close by. Ample parking space outside the cottage. Facilities and cleanliness of property was very good would definitely recommend.

Absolutely beautiful. If its a peaceful holiday your looking for then hears the place. Lovely accomodating owner highly recommended her tearooms on site. Dogs made very welcome. I look forward to my next visit with my Bentley.

A lovely small cottage with ample space for us and our dog. The location is ideal adjoining a picnic area and close to a choice of countryside walks and local attractions. A trip to the Beamish museum should not be missed - it is a memorable experience and not a typical museum. We were made to feel very welcome by Hilary the owner of this lovely holiday home. The cottage is small but just right for two ( plus the dog) and there are great walks from the door - including to the Causey Arch along the burn. The adjacent tea room is a great place for breakfast or a stop for tea, coffee and cakes. We visited Beamish museum, whiRead morech was arranged by Hilary too. We stayed in Teddy cottage May 2022, the cottages are excellent very clean and well stocked, a really lovey court yard with seating, on the whole really enjoyed it here and would recommend both cottage and location to anyone - there is a gate at side of the block and you are in Causey park a lovely area for walking, there is also a tea room which iRead mores very good.
