Situated in the conservation village of Tomich, this picture-postcard cottage is an idyllic retreat for up to five guests and a four-legged friend. Situated in a peaceful and picturesque glen you are never short of fantastic walks, with neighbouring Glen Affric considered by many to be the most beautiful glen in Scotland. Dogs who love huge expanses of glorious moorland and forests will be in their element.

With its wood burner, the property's cosy sitting room is the perfect spot for relaxing and for your dog to snooze after a day exploring the Highlands, while the separate kitchen/dining room is ideal for coming together to eat and plan your next adventure. A small sunroom with table and chairs provides an additional space where you might choose to enjoy a morning coffee, catch up on some reading or simply take some time out. The ground floor also contains a single bedroom and a shower room, while the remaining two bedrooms – one double and one twin – are found on the first floor, along with a bathroom.

A stay at this property puts you and your pup within easy reach of some wonderful sights, including the ruins of Guisachan House – the birthplace of the golden retriever – just 1 mile from the door, and the magnificent Plodda Falls, 3 miles distant. Meanwhile, a pub, shop and post office can be found in Cannich, 4 miles to the north, while Glen Affric and Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin await you 5 miles away, with the journey taking you through forests that offer plenty of stick-chasing opportunities and pass the aptly named Dog Falls. Further afield, the mysterious waters of Loch Ness are 16 miles away; maybe you can sniff out the monster?

The windows don't shut properly, as one of the nights we were there was windy and very cold, we hardly could get it warm inside. As for the rest: it's a lovely house.

Really great cottage with everything that you need. The location was great and made a good base for exploring. The kitchen had everything that we needed and all modern. The main bedroom was lovely and so were the other rooms. If you are tall (over 6ft) you might struggle upstairs. Overall it was a great stay. Note: there is no phone signal but greaRead moret wifi. Make sure you also have a food delivery for when you arrive. Hide

The cottage is great and well equipped and it is really comfortable. Great walks. Sad to see the cafe has closed and the hotel is ordinary without charging ordinary prices. Please take your own wine and food otherwise if you eat out it is both disappointing and irrationally expensive.

We absolutely loved this beautiful, clean and cosy cottage. Everything has been well thought out by the owners to make it a special stay. I took my elderly Nan who has reduced mobility and the downstairs bathroom and bedroom were perfect for her. Location is remote however surrounded by beautiful walks and views. We cannot wait to book again!

A very well equipped and comfortable cottage with everything we needed for self catering. Good walks from the doorstep without having to drive anywhere. Plodda falls is a must especially when it's frozen!! The cottage was spotlessly clean and the caretaker gave us a good welcome and imparted her local knowledge to us. Thank you.

Beautiful cottage in an amazing location. Swallow has lots to offer and we find it the ideal stay for our family. Lovely cosy living room and dine in kitchen. Its a shame that bedding and towels are still not included post Covid but it doesnt put us off booking. If youre looking for self catering in the highlands this is the perfect spot.
