A dog-friendly retreat near the North Coast 500 route, a 516-mile scenic trail, ideal for couples seeking a luxurious break in the Highlands. Close to a gorgeous beach and plenty to see in the local area.
If you’re aching to really get away from it all, you will adore this stunning lodge in the heart of the Highlands. Surround yourself with wild scenery in this luxurious glamping accommodation set in a complex of properties on a working farm by the sea. Sleeping two people in one bedroom and welcoming one faithful friend, this is the perfect romantic retreat for a couple and their pup. You’ll adore the untamed beauty of this remote location, and your dog will love snuggling up each night in front of the wood burner with his two favourite humans.
Step through the glass door of this unique lodge and you’ll find yourself in an impressive open-plan living room/kitchen/diner. Take a moment to check out the thoughtful welcome pack (there’s a little something in there for your pup too) and then head to the compact kitchen area, which has everything you need to cook up a romantic meal. Enjoy dinner at the breakfast bar, or step outside and dine alfresco in the decked garden area with the binoculars on hand for dolphin spotting. After dinner, curl up by the firepit or treat yourself to a dip in the hot tub – the sea views are spectacular. Head indoors and sink into a sofa to watch a movie while your pup stretches out in front of the wood burner, and when the day is done, retire to the tastefully-decorated bedroom.
Your pup is welcome at RSPB Nigg Bay (4.5 miles), a vast area of mudflat, saltmarsh and wet grassland on the Cromarty Firth that is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Just keep your pup on a short lead during ground-nesting season (1 April to 15 August). Alternatively, let them have a run on the unspoiled sands of Shandwick Bay (9 miles), which is dog-friendly all year round.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
