Recently renovated lodge overlooking 18-acre woodland estate in an elevated position in the heart of the Lake District
This beautiful log cabin, set in idyllic rural surroundings, sleeps four guests and one canine chum. As expected, you’ll be surrounded by a plethora of walking options, from gentle lakeside strolls to exhilarating fell climbs. The magical Langdale Pikes are just 9 miles away, where you and your canine companion can test your head for heights and be rewarded with spectacular views over Windermere and the surrounding valley.
The spacious property has an open-plan layout, creating a light and bright living space. The exposed wood adds character, whilst also making the accommodation feel warm and inviting. Large patio doors frame the view of the woodland that envelops the property and, on a summer’s day, allows you and the pup to potter in and out of the cabin. Hard floors run throughout the property, making it nice and easy to deal with the odd muddy pawprint here and there. Outside, there’s a gorgeous patio area where you can sit with a glass of wine or fire up the BBQ to enjoy an evening amongst nature.
If you and your favourite four-legged pal fancy a challenge, there’s a great circular walk through the Langdale Pikes, starting at the National Trust Stickle Ghyll car park, 9 miles away. The 7.5-mile route passes through secluded tarns and over craggy summits, encompassing the Pike of Stickle and a section of the Cumbria Way. Another great walk takes you up Orrest Head, famous for being hillwalker Alfred Wainwright’s first fell climb. The route is just 2.5 miles long – great for little legs – and is along a well-marked woodland trail. For an alternative perspective on the area, get out on the water on one of the iconic Windermere steamers and drift majestically along England’s largest lake, with your trusty companion by your side.
