Situated in a tranquil spot on the northern side of the island, this idyllic property offers a wonderful retreat for a couple or young family on the beautiful Isle of Skye.

The Isle of Skye is a walker's paradise, with breathtaking views and stunning scenery around every corner. This delightful cottage provides four guests and a faithful friend with a tranquil retreat just a short walk from the magical Fairy Glen in Uig, beyond which lies Trotternish Ridge, one of the most remarkable landscapes in Britain. Walkies will suddenly become all about exciting new locations and adventure.

Behind the traditional exterior of this compact cottage lies a modern interior, with flooring on the ground floor which enables you to clean muddy paws easily after a day exploring. As well as a bright galley kitchen, you will also find a cosy sitting room with an open fire that's ideal for cooler days, or, when the weather's warmer, you can head outdoors and enjoy glorious views from the garden. The ground floor also contains a spacious king-sized room and a bathroom with a shower over the bath. Upstairs, the landing has been transformed into a snug/book corner, which makes the ideal retreat for younger readers, with two single bedrooms with a low ceiling height leading off.

The Isle of Skye is one of the most photographed landscapes in the UK, and as well as the nearby Fairy Glen you will find iconic locations such as Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr within 25 miles of your door, while Neist Point and the Cuillin range both lie within 40 miles. These are all excellent places for long walks with your dog. The cottage is also just 16 miles from Portree, where you can pad along to the pier to watch the fishing boats unload, head into town to sniff out quirky shops, friendly pubs and a variety of restaurants, or climb The Lump for fantastic elevated views. For an alternative view of the island, join a local boat trip to see offshore wildlife and the spectacular scenery of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Cosy little cottage with everything needed for a week away (except kitchen scales). The only disappointment was that the garden although fenced was not secure for dogs. There were several places where a dog could either get under the fence due to gaps or easily get over where the garden level was higher up the fence. We had a lovely time and would Read morehappily recommend it although not really suitable if you have a large dog like us which likes to spend its time in the garden. Hide

Great location and delicious food at the Uig Inn and Galley. Cottage cosy, although cold on arrival as no heat had been left on, although it did warm up reasonably quickly. A good base for exploring the north of Skye.
