This delightful cottage is the perfect spot for a small family getaway, or couples' retreat and offers an ideal opportunity to explore the beautiful Scottish Highlands and islands.

Located on the beautiful Isle of Barra, off Scotland's west coast, this property provides you with a true home-from-home on an island where the emphasis is on peace, quiet and relaxation. Sleeping up to six people, with two hounds welcome, you are perfectly placed to explore the island's white sand beaches and lochs, or sniff out the distinctive culture and fascinating history of this Outer Hebridean island.

This delightful holiday cottage offers glorious views from its fenced garden which is perfect for keeping pups safe. with your own private gate to the shore, where you can cast a line into the water and fish, or perhaps launch a kayak to explore the bay (although you will need to bring your own boat). Back inside, the cosy living room provides a welcome retreat on cooler days, or you might choose to relax in the dining room, which offers views out across the water. Upstairs, three bedrooms await weary heads, comprising two doubles and a twin, each with the same far-reaching views awaiting you from the moment you open your eyes in the morning until you close them last thing at night.

At 8 miles long and 4 miles wide, the Isle of Barra is by no means large, but there is plenty for you and your four-pawed friends to see and do in a location once voted Britain's ‘most beautiful island'. Walks through the rugged landscape can take in seven lochs, while urban hounds can pad the pavements of Castlebay, just over 2 miles to the west. As well as shops and eateries, you can take a two-hour ferry journey to Lochboisdale on South Uist, perhaps travelling onwards to explore the islands of Benbecula and North Uist as well.

This cottage is comfortable and a fantastic location however it is very dated and some of things could do with being replaced.

I've been coming over to Barra for 15yrs now. My family are originally from here so I've stayed in alot of holiday rentals and this one has got to be my favourite, just having that view was amazing. We also had a visit from an otter playing on the rocks in front . I will definitely be booking again Thank you

Location is great. It was warm and cosy despite the weather. Had all you need to self-cater but it is very dated.

Lovely cottage, really well thought-out with everything you might need for your stay. Lovely walk straight onto the shore. Barra's amazing sandy beaches and surf easily accessible. You'll love it!

This is a clean, warm, and well equipped cottage in a stunning location. We had a very good week in it. Be aware, though, that the holiday cottage next door is accessed through the garden of the cottage which we found a bit intrusive. There isnt any access from the cottage down to the shoreline if you are thinking of fishing. We wished wed brought Read moresome comfy garden chairs because the ones in the cottage are of the plastic patio sort and not good for an afternoon reading a book. Hide

Excellent location for a lovely cottage. We were a bit confused when we pulled up to see someone else walking into the garden and thought we had the wrong place as there is no house name sign. It turned out there is a house next door with access through the garden and is apparently a public walkway. It was well stocked and fairly comfortable. The fRead moreence isnt high and there are lots of sheep surrounding the cottage but our dogs had a great time playing in the garden. Hide

A lovely little cottage in a superb location, close to Castlebay, but with great sea and mountain views. Was good to have an enclosed garden for the dog so she could chill out outside whenever we were home. Spotlessly clean and well equipped, just a little dated. Loved it there and would certainly return. Christine the housekeeper was lovely, very Read morefriendly and funny! Hide

The house was cosy and had everything we needed. Amazing setting right on the shore, listened to the waves through the night (although rocky and not accessible but beautiful sandy beaches nearby). We would definitely go back
