Property code: RUBDE

A cosy cottage positioned in an elevated position, offering great views, close to the delightful village and lovely beach of Combe Martin.

It’s time to pack Bella’s favourite rubber ball and comfort blanket and jump in the car to North Devon for a scenic holiday. This lovely, comfy cottage is located right on Exmoor National Park – meaning morning doggie walks along clifftops and through stunning moorland start right outside your front door. With two bedrooms, there’s space for up to three and one dog is welcome to join in the fun.

This traditional cottage has thick whitewashed walls, low ceilings and attractive ceiling beams that remind you you’re in an older property. The facilities are all lovely and modern though, with Sky TV, electric oven/hob and washing machine all featuring. Many of the windows boast excellent views over the national park – the property’s elevated position means these are extra spectacular. Outside on the lawn, Bella can sun herself on the lawn while you enjoy a morning cuppa on the plant-pot-filled patio as you conjure up a plan for the day.

You’ll be in Combe Martin, a scenic coastal village that’s home to a pretty harbour as well as England’s highest sea cliff. There’s a dog-friendly pub 0.5 miles from the house. While dogs are restricted on the beach over summer, there are plenty of beautiful coastal walks nearby including taking a stroll along the South West Coastal Path that hugs the shoreline. The 5-mile walk to cosmopolitan seaside resort Ilfracombe is a great way to sample this picturesque path – as Bella runs alongside you clutching her rubber ball between her teeth, you can breathe in the sea air and work up an appetite for a cream tea with lashings of jam.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We really enjoyed our stay in Rubydene. We were given a friendly reception by the owners and were very pleased with the delicious scones, jam and clotted cream left out for us as well as a few other essentials. Rubydene is a compact comfortable cottage halfway up a hill in the quiet coastal village of Combe Martin. Paul and Mary have thoughtfully created this holiday home with extra touches to help the visitor settle in (milk, wine, scones with cream and strawberry jam). The staircase is steep but with care we soon got used to that. Rubydene is an excellent choice for a holiday cottage. It is in immaculate condition, and the views from the cottage and the beautiful garden are fantastic. The owners are very welcoming, without being in any way intrusive. My only comment is - be prepared for the steepness of the entrance road!

A quirky cottage full of character in a great location with superb views and pubs and shop nearby, and perfect for exploring Devons North coast. A nice touch was a welcome pack of homemade scones with jam and cream along with chocolates and a bottle of wine, but there were so many more thoughtful little touches that made this cottage so special.

A very nice " cottagey " cottage with every you would find in your own home. The welcome pack was first class with scones and cream, milk and wine in the fridge and chocolates in the lounge. The cottage is in an ideal location for visiting the North Devon area with several pub/restaurants within walking distance.
