Sleeping up to 24 guests across ten bedrooms – plus three four-legged friends – this generously sized stone-built property is perfect for bringing the whole family together or enjoying a break with a group of friends. Set back from the road, and surrounded by a private, walled garden, this appealing Victorian property features high ceilings, dark wood panelling and parquet floors, which create a traditional country house atmosphere. Three spacious sitting rooms ensure there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax, whilst the dogs choose where to take their naps, or you can come together in the impressive dining room overlooking the garden. The kitchen's range cooker adds to the traditional feel, with a well-equipped pantry that is great for large party catering. Outside, a private garden and terrace allows you to make the most of summertime al fresco dining, with views across the 18-hole Cowal golf course.

Take a stroll along Marine Parade to the welcoming seaside town of Dunoon and absorb the magnificent views of the Clyde Estuary and beyond, or hike west to explore the hillside forests and mountains beyond. Alternatively, journey 5 miles north and you will find yourself in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, an area renowned for its tremendous hills, mountains and lochs where your canine pals won't be able to believe their luck at the vast open spaces and wildlife to chase.

Ideal for a large family group (we had a party of 20+, including kids from age 5-16, stayed over New Year and to celebrate a 50th birthday). We loved staying at the property, plenty space for everyone to enjoy. Bedrooms comfortable. We would love to come back some time in the future!

This is a really nice place to stay, lovely public rooms and comfy beds, all but the single with en suite shower rooms. The kitchen is quite small for a large party. There's lots to do nearby - Puck's Glen is magical and the Botanic Gardens fascinating. We took a ferry to the Isle of Bute, visited Mount Stuart House and Rothesay.
