This delightful cottage is set in a picturesque village near the centre of the North York Moors and makes a romantic bolthole for a couple looking for a peaceful retreat in lovely rural surroundings.

Escape to the North York Moors with your loved one and four-legged friend with this romantic bolthole. Set in the picturesque village of Rosedale Abbey, you will find a choice of charming pubs and cafes on the doorstep, plus fantastic dog walks, market towns and historic houses just waiting to be discovered. Dating back to 1850, this delightful cottage has been tastefully modernised into a stylish and welcoming hideaway for two, complete with cosy lounge, contemporary kitchen and patio garden.

After a long day on foot, relax and unwind in the inviting living space, an ideal area for playing board games, watching TV and planning the day ahead while your pooch snoozes at your feet. The stylishly designed kitchen contains everything you should need for rustling up romantic meals for two, plus a butler’s sink, oak worktops and a stable door opening onto the patio. Upstairs, the elegant double-height master bedroom is decorated in a calming boutique hotel style and opens onto an en-suite shower room with large walk-in shower. Outside, the small southeast-facing unfenced patio is perfect for al fresco drinks and overlooks the medieval churchyard and old priory grounds.

The charming village of Rosedale Abbey lies at the centre of five converging lanes, each offering a different route across the stunning moor. Enjoy long and scenic walks through Blakey Ridge (6 miles), Danby Dale (10 miles) and the Vale of Pickering (16 miles), stopping at the delightful villages of Hutton-le-Hole (4 miles) and Egton Bridge (8.5 miles) along the way. Browse the quintessential market towns of Helmsley (13.5 miles) and Pickering (10.5 miles), where you can board the iconic North York Moors Railway to reach Whitby (16.5 miles) or soak up some local culture at Castle Howard (20.5 miles).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The cottage enjoys a great location in Rosedale Abbey, a picturesque North York Moors village. There is a charming village green and several cafes and pubs, all within a few hundred yards of the property. Rosedale Abbey is famously at the centre of five converging lanes taking you off in different directions across the moors. The first takes you towards Blakey Ridge and then onwards to Castleton, Danby Dale and the other scenic villages of the Upper Esk Valley. The view from the top of Blakey Ridge is one of the finest across the whole of the North York Moors.

The second lane takes you out of the village towards the Vale of Pickering and the market towns of Malton (18.5 miles), Pickering (10.5 miles) and Helmsley (13.5 miles); together with trips to Scarborough (28 miles), Castle Howard (19.5 miles) or York (33 miles). The nostalgic North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire. Helmsley features the nationally renowned Verbena Day Spa if you fancy a little pampering during your holiday.

The third takes you out across the moors to Egton Bridge (8.5 miles) and then on to Grosmont (11 miles) continuing onwards to Goathland (13 miles), the location for 'Aidensfield' in the 'Heartbeat' television series. You can also visit the seaside delights of Staithes, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood's Bay, as well as the famous coastal town of Whitby, all within 21 miles from the cottage.

The fifth choice is to head out of Rosedale Abbey towards Farndale (5.5 miles) and Hutton-le-Hole (4.5 miles), one of the prettiest villages in the North York Moors.

Good pub within walking distance. Two good local shops that also double as tea rooms.

A quaint, very small but perfectly adequate holiday cottage. The welcome pack was lovely as was the coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. We were 2 adults and 2 dogs and it was perfect. Ideally situated in a beautiful village, ideal for both walking and visiting the coast.

This cottage is ideally situated in the centre of Rosedale Abbey which in turn is ideally situated for walking and touring the dales and moors. The bedroom and en suite are modern, spacious and well appointed. Downstairs the living room is comfortable, but the kitchen/diner is cramped and not adequate for preparing and eating meals
