Staying in this quintessential English barn, surrounded by roam-able fields and footpaths, will make you and your beloved doggies feel like you’ve really come home. Your spacious single-storey barn is ideal for a family with two little ones (or grown-up children). From this cosy base, you can explore the working farm around you as well as the nearby Wiltshire Cycleway and the picturesque towns of Shaftesbury, Mere, and Bruton.

The barn opens to a bright kitchen, dining and sitting area, where light decor and cosy furnishings provide the perfect atmosphere to relax after a long walk, plus a TV and DVD player so the kids can wind down with a movie. Along the hall, two bedrooms — one double, one twin — are sweetly decked out in country colours and special touches. Outside, a terrace, bedecked with climbing roses, is a sun trap. The surrounding fields are yours to wander with your sweet pet, and there are even bluebell woods that bloom in spring for an extra dose of magic.

If that wasn’t scenery enough for you, the farm is situated on the stunning Dorset, Wiltshire, and Somerset borders, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where country walks abound. Take your pup for an awe-inspiring ramble in the fields around Stonehenge, which is an 18-mile drive through forested countryside. For a bit of culture, take a trip to the famously English town of Shaftesbury (famous for being the setting of the Hovis advert), 10 miles away. And the National Trust property of Stourhead (just 6 miles away) with gorgeous neo-classical gardens even has special doggy routes and opening hours for exploring pups.

We had a lovely time in Rose Cottage. A quiet area, no traffic. The cottage is simple but all the things you need are at hand. The sofa's were a bit old though.

Nice place to stay, authentic cottage experience. Take some basics for the kitchen (teabags, juice, coffee, bread and milk etc) a food shop needed almost everyday with kids. However, fantastic beautiful English cities, towns, villlages, and shops to explore all around Wiltshire and Somerset, even Dorset well within distance, an excellent base to exRead moreplore and relax.
