The Yorkshire Dales are calling couples, chums and canines to this sweet stone cottage, set in the village of Darley, 8.5 miles northwest of Harrogate and 7 miles southeast of Pateley Bridge. Darley has a shop and a lovely canine-friendly pub (1 mile), and there’s a network of breathtaking walks and cycle routes all around, like the Nidderdale Greenway which connects Harrogate and Ripley (6 miles). Find Pateley Bridge’s fabulous butchers and ‘The Oldest Sweet Shop in the World’, fun for two legs or four at Brimham Rocks and sublime walks around Fewstone Reservoir (both 5 miles).

Inside you’ll find a bright and vibrant interior, blending rural treats and contemporary comforts with style. After thrilling days in town and country, gather around the glowing fire in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its cosy leather sofas and deep pile rugs. Enjoy suppers of fresh local fare and feast alfresco in the garden. Upstairs, soak in the tranquil bathroom’s steaming tub, before a nightcap and delicious dreams of adventures ahead in the two delightful bedrooms; wake to charming country views, coffee and croissants. Energetic children and dogs have plenty of space outside for chasing around.

Discover Knaresborough, Spofforth and Harewood Castles (12/14/15 miles). Explore the historic cathedrals, museums, streets, parks and winding lanes of Leeds (21 miles) and York (28 miles), and their myriad independent shops, dog friendly pubs, cafes and eateries. Visit Birk and Almscliffe Crags (6/17 miles) for wooded river walks, rock climbing and sublime valley views. Happy hounds will love racing round the 100-acre grounds of statuesque Harewood House (16 miles). The Harrogate Ringway Walk offers many routes through exquisite countryside, including landmarks like the amazing Crimple Viaduct. Try kayaking, rock climbing and canyoning at magnificent How Stean Gorge (14 miles). Whatever your passion, you’ll find it in scintillating Nidderdale and North Yorkshire.

Just a short distance from the main village road, and tge A59, good private off-road parking which is our preference. Comfy stay, plenty of utensils etc. Happy to recommend to friends, and would stay again. Pretty rural location.

This cottage is absolutely perfect for a couple (and a four legged friend). The owner even gifts you 6 free range eggs, which is a nice gesture.

Fabulous comfortable cozy cottage which was dog friendly and value for money. It's in a lovely quiet location with good walking from the door. The owners live next door but completely respect your space, they were friendly, welcoming but not at all intrusive. There is one pub within easy walking distance and 2 more a bit further. First of all I will highlight the bad things. 1) Sat Nav insists on taking you to 'Potters Field' which is about 200 yards in the opposite direction to the Cottage. I can't think of any more. The cottage was well situated with a good access road and ample parking. It was very quiet and peaceful and had some great views from the back of the propertyRead more. There is a small flat grassy area just out the front of the cottage for the kids to play on, or even have a little picnic. Overall 10 / 10 Hide

Very pleased to be able to visit Rose cottage again. We were made very welcome again by the owner, loved the eggs & the sweet William flowers & also it was nice to see all the flowers in the pots around the cottage. A good location for visiting Harrogate - even the dreaded road works didnt cause too many problems- also not far from RHS Harlow Carr.
