Situated on the Bere Peninsula on the beautiful River Tavy, this period property is perfect for a large family or group of friends – plus up to two four-legged members of the pack! Sleeping eight across four spacious and peaceful bedrooms, you’ll soon all be ready to get out and explore the fantastic countryside on both sides of the Devon/Cornwall border. Visit the historic town of Tavistock (9.5 miles) on the edge of Dartmoor National Park for a long stroll followed by a pub lunch. Or, take a hike around Minions (22 miles), the highest village in Cornwall on Bodmin Moor.

The property is located in the pretty village of Bere Ferrers, which is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It offers a tasteful blend of old and new, with exposed wooden beams mixed with contemporary furnishings throughout. The wood burner in the lounge beckons you to sink into the plush sofas with the hounds by your feet, relaxing in front of the fire after a long day on the moors. Cook up a storm in the traditional farmhouse kitchen and head out for an al fresco river view meal in the garden, which is enclosed by a low wall, and watch the kids and dogs play.

There are plenty of things to do in the area, whether you have two or four legs. Go for a walk around the grounds of Buckland Abbey (6 miles), which was built by the Cistercians over 700 years ago, before popping for a spot of lunch at the pub just under a mile down the road. Kids will love the Dartmoor Murder Mystery Treasure Trail, which starts in Tavistock (10.5 miles), while the pups will love following them as they solve the clues. For a bit of coast, visit peaceful Downderry Beach (26 miles) that welcomes dogs all year.

Rivertide is a beautiful cottage in a remote, pretty village with views across the estuary. It had a well equipped kitchen and was comfortable throughout. It suited our 2 families of 4 adults and 3 children very well. The lack of designated car parking was never an issue during our April visit, but maybe it could be in the summer. Stunning location overlooking the estuary. Perfect for kayaking and swimming when the tide is in. The cottage is very comfortable and we loved sitting in the conservatory playing games and admiring the view. We had great fun at The Olde Plough Inn, engaging with the staff and other diners. Fantastic location right on the edge of the river. Great for paddle boarding (when the tide is in). Quiet location away from busy touristy areas.

A very spacious and comfortable cottage with a great view of the river. We enjoyed taking the dogs for a walk along the footpath by the river to the well equipped playing field with a tennis court available to hire and an extensive childrens play area.

Beautiful and relaxing cottage with a stunning view over the river. Very comfortable and spacious. The pub round the corner was excellent, lovely food and very friendly. Fantastic location to take day trips to Cornwall or Devon.

Great property in a fantastic location. The property is beautifully set up to maximise the stunning views across the river. It was so nice to wake up and have breakfast in the conservatory whilst enjoying the wildlife right outside the window. We had three generations who all had an amazing time. Really amazing location if youre into paddle boarding or canoeing or even cold water swimming. Cottage was a little smaller than the pics show but everything was provided that you could ask for. Wed happily stay here again

The cottage was beautiful and there was plenty of room for the seven people in our party. The view out of the back garden was stunning and it was nice to be so near the river. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs and there was a park very close by. The cottage is situated practically next door to a very welcoming pub and the food there was Read moregood. A gem of a cottage, beautifully situated on Bere Ferrers Quay with furniture and equipment provided for a comfortable relaxing stay. The pathway leading to the door was framed in beautiful flowering shrubs. Fishing and crabbing from the Quay and even the lawn is great fun, big fish were seen but sadly not caught! Nearby is the rail station for PlymRead moreouth without taking the car and the Old Plough 25yards away does superb pub meals and good beer. Hide
