You and your tail-waggers will love this tranquil, contemporary property which is beautifully positioned on the River Torridge. There are plenty of attractions nearby in Appledore, Westward Ho! and Northam Burrows (all 4 miles). Plunge into nautical history at the North Devon Maritime Museum, tame the seas at the Surf School and run wild on the sands and dunes with your canine companions. Or take to the streets of Bideford to explore its independent boutiques, dog-friendly pubs, eateries, harbour and galleries.

Inside the property, you’ll feel at home whilst remaining high on holiday fever. From the comfortable lounge/diner to the calm double bedroom, you and your inquisitive comrades will love the river and estuarine views. There’s a useful cloakroom with WC on the ground floor, and all the mod-cons you’d expect throughout the house to sweeten your stay. Outside to the rear, there’s a patio for you to sit with a glass of wine and furry friends can watch the boats drift by. Now for the hardest part: choosing a beach or beautiful location to explore with your four-legged confidants.

For a start, try pristine Putsborough beach near Croyde (21 miles) for foamy frolics and sandy fun. Saunton Sands (17 miles) is also highly recommended for dog-kind shenanigans and stunning surroundings. Woolacombe and Ilfracombe (both 22 miles) are a paradise for rock-pool purveyors. Explore the wild Hartland peninsular, find its Abbey and dramatic lighthouse (16 miles). Clovelly is always calling to North Devonian visitors, especially along the South West Coast Path’s stunning approach from Buck’s Mills (12 and 9 miles). Where might you hunt the Earl of Rone? The answer lies 23 miles to the northeast. Let North Devon be the answer to your holiday quest, and let the adventures begin.
