Nestled amid woodland in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, this cosy shepherd’s hut offers a rustic and romantic retreat for a couple and their faithful pup. Spend your days enjoying scenic walks and chasing sticks in the glorious countryside, and evenings enjoying some quality time together, sipping a glass of wine and discussing the day’s adventures around the wood burner or fire pit.
Thoughtfully designed to make full use of the available space, this cute cabin is beautifully made and lovingly furnished. Prepare simple meals in the compact yet practical kitchen under the watchful eye of your canine chum, then snuggle up together in front of the warming wood burner. The double bunk bed tucked away at one end sleeps two on the bottom and an extra one at the top if necessary, and there’s a convenient shower room with WC at the opposite end. Set within its own private enclosure, you’ll have a ball in the outside living space too – enjoy a BBQ on the picnic table, then huddle around the fire pit and watch the stars appear overhead while your pup plays freely.
The lovely moorland village of Holne is around a mile away with all the basics on hand including a farm shop, and a pub and tearoom that will welcome you and your furry companion with a treat or two. Dartmoor National Park is a natural playground for humans and pups alike, with tons of scenic walkies across craggy tors and open heathland, and lots of dog-friendly towns and villages to explore. For a coastal stroll, head to Paignton (16 miles) or Torquay (18.5 miles), where you’ll find several beaches that welcome man’s best friend all year round, including North Beach at Goodrington Sands, Babbacombe Beach and Fairy Cove.
