This pretty holiday home, located less than 200 metres from the South West Coast Path, is perfect for a little family – and that includes the waggy-tailed members! Sleeping four across two cosy bedrooms and with space for up to two dogs, this cottage is the ideal opportunity to take a break from busy life and relax by the coast. Take long strolls along the coast path, stopping at the pub for a swift drink before heading back along the quaint narrow streets towards home.
The property has a bright and airy feel to it thanks to neutral decor and large windows. The kitchen diner has a contemporary farmhouse style, with lots of woods and pretty tiling, while the coastal touches in the lounge remind you of your proximity to the rivers Taw and Torridge. In the evening, sink into the comfy sofas with your favourite book or TV programme while the pups snooze at your feet; if the weather’s good sit out on the decking with an al fresco drink. The lawn area is ideal for the hounds to stretch their legs. Head up the steep staircase to bed for a peaceful night’s sleep, ready to wake up refreshed to take on the next day of adventure.
Hop on the ferry to nearby Instow (1 mile; 5.5 miles by car) and walk along the beach or stop for a bite at the pub for wonderful views across the River Torridge. Popular Westward Ho! is just 3 miles away, and dogs are welcome on parts of the sandy beach all year round. Plus, the Northam Burrows Country Park behind it is ideal for afternoon ambles after some ice cream or fish and chips. Kids will love the Milky Way Adventure Park – and pups are welcome to watch you on the rides!
