Formerly part of the blacksmith's house, this delightful ground-floor cottage is set in the friendly coastal village of Salen on the Isle of Mull. Thoughtfully renovated and tastefully furnished, the cottage features original exposed beams and a nautically-themed wood-panelled wall with two antique brass portholes, which cleverly light up to reveal painted ship scenes relating to this historic island. Ideally situated for exploring the eastern coast – and with the thriving town of Tobermory to the north – this is a wonderful holiday retreat for a couple and their pet dog.
Set on one floor with a couple of steps leading to the entrance, the cottage offers a relaxing, spacious and inviting lounge/diner, which makes a wonderful space to unwind in at the end of a great day exploring this idyllic Hebridean island. There's also a small, stylishly designed kitchen perfect for preparing your favourite meals in. The light and attractive king-size bedroom can also be made up as a twin room on request, and you will also find a porch with coat/boot storage space, as well as a handy bathroom.
The historic village of Salen overlooks the Sound of Mull and makes a lovely holiday base for exploring the Isle of Mull. The village has a number of shops and places to eat and drink, and is midway between Tobermory (10 miles) and Craignure (11 miles) which is home to the impressive 700-year-old Duart Castle and the ferry terminal to the mainland. The pretty 18th-century port of Tobermory is known for its colourful buildings on the harbour and features a range of great shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as a distillery, museum, gallery and the An Tobar live music venue. Dogs can help you explore the beautiful Aros Park and there are miles of coastal and country walks to discover.
