Sitting in the pretty village of Sandleheath on the fringes of the New Forest, this charming cottage is the perfect romantic retreat for two dog lovers. Sleeping two people in one bedroom and welcoming one canine companion, you’ll adore the village setting and quaint cottage features, and your pup will love the freedom to roam around the enclosed garden/patio unleashed.

Step inside this funky little cottage and you can’t fail to notice the clever layout and design. A stylish kitchen sits on a mezzanine level overlooking the living area and boasts everything to keep a budding chef happy. Enjoy a romantic meal for two in the light, bright dining area of the living room/diner, or step outside and dine alfresco in the quaint courtyard garden. After dinner, curl up on the sofa in the living area before retiring to the bedroom beyond the partition wall. In the morning, enjoy a leisurely coffee in the courtyard before heading off on your dog-walking adventures in the New Forest.

The New Forest (2.5 miles) is a dog walker’s paradise. With more than 140 miles of tracks and footpaths, your pup’s tail is sure to be wagging during walks through woodland and heathland and along the coastline. For a day out with a difference, head to Exbury Gardens. Follow up your flower-filled walk in the gardens with a ride on the miniature steam train – your pup is welcome aboard. And check the website for the gardens’ ‘Devoted to Dogs’ days, which take place throughout the year, because dog owners receive discounted admission.

The cottage is small, but cosy and warm. It was big enough for the two of us and our golden retriever. The garden is large enough for a dog to wander around and it is totally secure. This was our second stay and probably wont be our last!
