With views of turquoise waters from a whitewashed balcony, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this stunning property was situated somewhere in the Mediterranean when in fact, it’s a lot closer to home than that. This cute and quaint cottage enjoys prime-position in the heart of the sleepy fishing village, Appledore in North Devon. Here, a family and up to two of their canine companions could spend their days wandering the quaint cobbled streets, sitting along the quayside crabbing, and trying out delicious local delicacies at one of the cafes, restaurants or pubs, most of which welcome pups as well as people.
Exuding nautical charm, the interior of this cottage is stylish and modern. Decked in washed-out blues and greens, lots of wood and country-style furnishings, this three-bedroom home-from-home has the irresistible allure of a traditional seaside hideaway. The open-plan kitchen/dining area is flooded with light from the skylight and large bi-folding patio doors which lead out to the balcony. Underfloor heating downstairs means little paws and feet will remain warm and cosy on even the coldest of days. Upstairs the bedrooms are tranquil and restful, with unparalleled views across the estuary. If you lay quietly enough, you might even hear the gentle waves from your bed.
There’s so much to see and do in this truly wonderful part of the country, with a huge selection of dog-friendly days out, attractions and beaches within easy walking or driving distance. The Tarka Trail can be accessed from Appledore and offers 48-miles of traffic-free walks through woodlands, along rivers and coastal cliffs. Northam Burrows Country Park is just 1-mile away and The Milky Way theme park is 12-miles from this property and a fantastic day out for the young ones (or the young at heart!)
