This quaint cottage, situated just a short walk from the centre of Kelso, is an ideal retreat for your family – including the pups, of course! Sleeping four across two cosy bedrooms, this beautiful property overlooks St. Andrews Church and the River Tweed. Wander around the town and discover the history behind the cobbled square and the abbey ruins, before stopping for lunch at one of the restaurants and pubs.
The property, which is split over three floors, is comfortable and welcoming with plenty of traditional features. Snuggle into the sofas in the evening with a good book, the dogs by your feet, and enjoy a snack prepared in the charming and bright kitchen. Heading up the cottage stairs, the bedrooms are warm and inviting thanks to peaceful decor that promotes a great night’s sleep; wake up refreshed and head out to the front of the house where there’s seating for you to enjoy an al fresco breakfast, watching the world go by.
Pick a section of the Pennine Way National Trail and take a long walk; there are 20 Sites of Special Scientific Interest, two National Nature Reserves and three National Parks along the way. You could start 8 miles away in Kirk Yetholm. Kids will love the history at Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum (12 miles), while the hounds will love playing in the grounds. Further afield, dogs ride free on the Heatherslaw Light Railway (16.5 miles), and you can enjoy a ride along the banks of the River Till with stunning views of the Northumberland countryside.
