This attractive cottage is situated in a beautiful quiet location on a working farm with 100 acres of land to explore. With farm shop, café, games room and nature trail, this is a lovely holiday home.

Ideally located in a peaceful part of the Durham countryside, this pretty cottage retains plenty of period detail and makes a lovely, cosy holiday home for a couple with up to two dogs. An ideal base for exploring the Durham Dales, the cottage is close to the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property is one of several properties set on a working farm, and you will be welcome to explore over a hundred acres of farmland.

 

With original features including exposed beams and stonework, this charming holiday bungalow features a light and tastefully furnished lounge where you can snuggle up and watch a movie, enjoy a good book or plan the next day’s events. The stylishly and traditionally designed kitchen/diner is perfect for enjoying a special meal. Outside, you can sit back in the seating area, or make use of the on-site facilities, including a farm shop and café, and a games room which is shared with the other properties, where you can play air hockey, table football or table tennis. You are also welcome to visit the farm’s cattle and sheep, and explore the farmland, which features a nature trail, playing field, an ancient monument and medieval moat.

 

Set just 2.5 miles from the delightful town of Wolsingham, this pretty cottage is perfect for you and your dogs as you discover the glorious Durham countryside. With the historic city of Durham within easy reach (15 miles), there are plenty of places for your dogs to discover. You can head into the North Pennines, explore Hamsterley Forest (15 miles) or visit some of the many dog-welcoming local attractions including Beamish – the Living Museum of the North (17.5 miles), Barnard Castle (18.5 miles), Killhope Mine (20.5 miles), Egglestone Abbey (20.5 miles), Finchale Priory (20 miles) and Auckland Castle Deer House (9.5 miles).

 

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The cottage was lovely, location was good, loads of walks for the dogs nearby. Newcastle 35 mins away. Would certainly go back again for a lovely quiet holiday.

The cottage was a little smaller than it looked.The yard wasn't enclosed an the tiny garden out from bedroom was overgrown.Alot of cobwebs,spiders.Two setter sofa an one tub chair so not that comfy.Plenty of hot water.Great walks from cottage with or without dogs.Next village along right or left plenty of little shops chippy pubs.Bus stop outside oRead moren road .A cafe on site if you use it check your change Moors not to far away turn right at road.Over road a nice walk along the stream an railway. Lovely cottage, great location, used the caf once, good food and service. The cottages are in a quiet corner of the farm with no disturbance from the caravan park. Ideal for visiting attractions in County Durham. Main shops only a few miles away. Would definitely stay here again.

Well equipped and a fairly good location for things to do and lovely walks. Cafe on the farm a great asset, friendly and kept clean. Even a dog diner menu!

Otter Cottage is set in beautiful surroundings and is very peaceful. The countryside is stunning and has access to North Yorkshire Moor and North Pennines. The farm is a working farm and interesting.
