Ideally located in a peaceful part of the Durham countryside, this pretty cottage retains plenty of period detail and makes a lovely, cosy holiday home for a couple with up to two dogs. An ideal base for exploring the Durham Dales, the cottage is close to the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property is one of four properties set on a working farm, where you are welcome to explore the 100 acres of farmland.

 

With original features including exposed beams and stonework, this charming holiday cottage features a light and tastefully furnished lounge where you can snuggle up and watch a film, enjoy a good book or plan the next day’s events. The tastefully designed kitchen/diner is perfect for enjoying a special meal. Outside, you can sit back in the seating area, or make use of the on-site facilities, including a farm shop and café, and a games room which is shared with the other properties, where you can play air hockey, table football or table tennis. You are also welcome to visit the farm’s cattle and sheep and explore the farmland, which features a nature trail, playing field, an ancient monument and medieval moat.

 

Set just 2 miles from the delightful town of Wolsingham, this pretty cottage is perfect for you and your dogs as you discover the glorious Durham countryside. With the historic city of Durham within easy reach (15 miles), there are plenty of places for your dogs to discover. You can head into the North Pennines, explore Hamsterley Forest (15 miles) or visit some of the many dog-friendly local attractions including Beamish – the Living Museum of the North (17 miles), Barnard Castle (18 miles), Killhope Mine (20 miles), Egglestone Abbey (20 miles), Finchale Priory (20 miles) and Auckland Castle Deer House (9 miles).

Perfect Holday property for my dog and I. Great location with walks all round. The property is clean and warm and had everything I needed. On site cafe a real bonus.

The situation is perfect within easy reach of Durham and the scenery in he surrounding areas is second to none! Cottage was one of a few on site all reasonably private.

What an excellent property! It had everything we needed for our self-catering holiday and having their cafe on-site was a real bonus [soup and cheese scones are highly recommended]. We were provided with a nice welcome package, as well as wide range of brochures and walking books which meant we didn't need to drive far to get out and about. Brilliant cottage. Otter Cottage has a bath, which many people prefer, and has a shower over the bath. People with walking challenges might prefer Hare Cottage, which has similar facilities to Otter Cottage, I believe, and it has a walk-in shower.

This was an absolutely beautifully presented cottage with so much attention to detail. Everything had been thought & v clean. The welcome pack was so generous and reflected the spirit of people who own this property. It was so peaceful and near a babbling brook so quite magical for children. Lovely cottage. The only downside is having to drive everywhere about 30 to 40 minutes to get to places. Beautiful countryside.

Fabulous place as a base to explore all the walks.
