Nestled on the southern fringes of the Peak District National Park, this wonderful Grade II listed cottage is centrally placed for meeting up with friends or family from all over the country. Enjoy walks along an old disused railway line in the Manifold Valley or stroll to the dog-friendly village pub in Waterhouses for a hearty meal. Sleeping up to 12 people and two canine pals, the property has many luxury features, including a wood burner, piano, pizza oven and hot tub.
This detached property, spread over three floors, has plenty of space for you all to stretch out. It’s full of character, with oak beams, wood panelling and latch doors creating a country cottage feel. The handy utility area makes washing off muddy paws a breeze after long walks in the countryside, while the stunning oak kitchen allows you to hone your culinary skills. Cook up a roast dinner in the electric Range oven and gather everyone together for a celebration meal in the impressive conservatory diner. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, while the others, up steep cottage-style stairs, include a four-poster and rooms set in the eaves with sloping ceilings. Outside, the large lawn is great for ball games with your dogs, but do take care around the pond.
Starting in Waterhouses, the Manifold Trail takes in beautiful countryside and the meandering River Hamps. Climb the steps to Thor’s Cave, 5 miles from the property, for magnificent views across the valley. Further afield, the Heights of Abraham (20 miles) offers a brilliant family day out, and canines with a head for heights can travel for free on the cable cars. Another top attraction is Chatsworth House (25 miles), which has doggy drinking stations in the courtyard.
