  • One of the best locations in the north of Scotland to see the northern lights
  • Spacious enclosed garden, with hot tub, perfect for children and pets
Property code: 89233

This is the perfect base for keen walkers and cyclists to explore the Highlands. It’s on NC500 (North Coast 5000) at Dunnet Head, the northern tip of Scotland, and is one of the best places to see the northern lights in North Scotland. It’s in wild, unspoilt countryside just metres from the sea and has a large, enclosed garden – ideal for dogs – but what really makes this place so special are the hot tub, outdoor pod and sauna.

As well as the living room, with a TV and wood burner, there’s also a conservatory to relax in as well as the downstairs master double with en-suite and impressive infrared sauna. A narrow cottage stairway takes you up to a second double and a twin room. There’s also a family bathroom to complete the property. Outside, there’s plenty of space in the garden – enclosed with fencing and stone walls – and there’s plenty of parking and a garage for storing your bikes. Having the bubble shelter means you can sit outside whatever the Scottish weather throws at you, and you can sit in the hot tub come rain or shine too. Dogs can have free access with it all being enclosed and the vista is unbeatable with views across to Orkney.

During the summer you can pop over to Orkney on a day trip leaving from John O’Groats, 12 miles away, and take your bike (but leave your canine companion at home). Less than 2 miles away is Dunnet Beach, where you’ll find over 2 miles of white sand where dogs are free to run all year round. The area is home to the RSPB nature reserve too, perfect for wildlife lovers. A must-see stop on your NC500 adventure is a visit to the Mey Castle & Visitor Centre just 7 miles away, and it’s only a few miles to the nearest pub and restaurant if you fancy an evening out.

Absolutely adorable luxurious cottage, set in a stunning landscape. With an attentive owner who has a friendly and helpful caretakers. The kids (8 & 11), my mum, brother and I had the most marvellous time there with our dog. We will be talking about the sauna, hot tub and seals on the nearby shore amongst other gems nearby like Geise farm until we Read morereturn. Well worth the long haul drive from London. Definitely recommend! Ps take bug repellent for midges if going on hikes ;) Hide
