Peacefully tucked away within the pretty Herefordshire hamlet of Llanwarne, this rustic barn is a perfect hideaway for two. Cleverly finished with an interesting collection of artworks, rustic homewares and salvage yard treasures.
This stunning property, located 9 miles from cathedral city Hereford, is an ideal romantic retreat for couples – not leaving Fido behind, of course! Sleeping two humans in a fantastic king-size bed and with plenty of space for the hound to stretch out, this brilliant barn conversion is an opportunity to relax and unwind with your beau while still being close enough to walks and visitor attractions. Climb Garway Hill (6 miles) where you can enjoy views across five counties on a clear day or go antique hunting in Ross-on-Wye (8.5 miles) where there are lots of dog-friendly shops, cafes and pubs.
The holiday home, which is located near to another of the owner’s properties, is bright and airy with an open-plan style. Reclaimed wood shelves line the walls with interesting trinkets and crockery, with unlikely objects used perfectly as furniture. Snuggle up in front of the wood burner, the pup by your feet, and watch the light change through the various skylights and windows that surround the property. Soak in the deep claw-foot bath before bed to unwind. Up on the mezzanine level, a luxurious bedroom awaits you; slip between the sheets surrounded by exposed beams and vaulted ceilings.
Take a wander around Haugh Wood (15 miles), where there are lots of walking trails to explore, including two butterfly trails. Dogs go free on the boat rides with Kingfisher River Cruises (10 miles), which wind their way through Symonds Yat on a quiet ride. A peaceful riverside walk begins from Tintern Old Station (23 miles), while over in Wales you can enjoy the historical industrial landscape of Blaenavon from the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway (28 miles). And if you’re a wine lover, book a tour around the owner’s vineyard where you might even get a taste.
